I know there are some negative things about the company and I am just curious what other people think ..

The only wet food my cats will eat consistently ( twice a day everyday ) is Fancy Feast Classics ..

I have never feed purina canned food but my cat has tried both Purina one and Purina Kitten Chow and absolutely loved them both! Purina canned food should be fine but it never hurts to research it and check the ingredients to be sure :D

No, my cat loves the new Purina grain free canned food. It's the only canned stuff he will eat the gravy AND chunks--and keeps coming back to eat it.

Any particular reason you're concerned about Purina?

The only reason I decided not to try giving my kitten the new Purina Beyond grain-free food is because a few of their ingredients are outsourced from China. With all of China's recalls on pet food/treats, I just don't want to take the risk. Purina itself is not made in China, but a couple ingredients in it are. Other than that, looking at the list of ingredients on Purina's bew grain-free Beyond line, it looks pretty decent.

3 flavors of Friskies are the only wet foods one of my cats will eat, so Friskies is what they eat

No particular reason really . I guess just the fact that it is such a big company , it just makes me wonder about quality and such .. Also my cats have been eating Fancy Feast for so long I think it may be time for a change anyway ..

oh Canada~
There are a lot of companies that if I could, I would boycott in an instant. A lot of them have questionable source materials or methods, and in the end they're all companies: money comes first, and money talks. They do what they can to minimize their investment into making foods, and if they can do it cheaply enough, we get to save some money in buying from them. But that's a compromise we make if we want affordable, we let those companies slip in the bad things they do. Even if a company starts out with good intentions, the people in charge are only looking for profit and so they'll skimp where they can to become a big household name if it means they'll get paid more, which would mean their company will survive.

Sometimes we'll have an outrage and people will talk of boycott when something surfaces publicly (Blue Buffalo vs Purina lawsuits on claims of ingredients recently, but in the past there was Iams Cruelty too, and Iams is still thriving - most people don't even remember or think of that now and will just buy it because it's there and it's a recognized name). It usually is just talk though. In the scheme of the whole pet owning world, not enough people care enough to make a dent in their sales to influence their actions.

It's like the evils of shopping at department stores. Maybe Target isn't as bad as WalMart in where they outsource and how they treat their employees (and let's pretend that they didn't just announce that all of their Canadian stores would close), but you could buy a t-shirt and still be supporting the supply and demand chain for a sweatshop in Honduras, rather than WalMart's sweatshops the Philippines.

In my current living situation, there is no way I could manage to afford the companies I believe are doing better and more moral things (especially for the betterment of our pets). I split my costs so I'm not paying them all to one company, but they are still getting some of my money. Maybe someday when I'm more established, but the fact of the matter is that thousands of people are still buying into those same products, or the company's other products which will continue to sustain the company whether I personally like it or not.
