Well,I guess she would be considered semi-feral now.She lets me touch her all the time now,but NO ONE else(or so I thought.LOL.)
The other day she was laying outside on her bed and Mike had just gotten home and I walked out there and I told him to try to reach down to pet her to see what she would do.She just layed there.I was like "OMG I cannot believe she just let you pet her!!"
I guess it's just where she sees him all the time cause I KNOW she wouldn't let anyone else touch her.She will let some strangers near her,but if they get too close she takes off.

I just wanted to brag on her a little.
She has come a long way from what she was.

How old was she when you started socializing her?
She was almost a year old when I was able to catch her.I caught her brother and sister at around 2-3 months of age,but she saw me catch them I think and didn't come back around for a while.I would go out and talk to her and feed her when she did come back around and when her sister(she was inside)came into heat I figured she was probably about to too and figured I needed to get her quick and get her spayed.
I caught her and took her and her sis to get fixed.I kept her inside for a couple of months,so I could socialize her a little before I let her back out.She did get a few good slaps in on us while she was inside.LOL.
I had her spayed in Feb. of this year.
So I think she is doing very good.

She even lets me pick her up for a few seconds.

Good to hear it. Most of our ferals have been young (from 4 weeks to 4 months), so I've been a bit ignorant of how difficult it is to socialize the older cats. There was even a huge difference in our 4-week and 7-week-olds, so I can only imagine.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
That's so great! It's really wonderful when you get there. We've only had success with younger ferals.

With the older ferals, we just keep feeding them and spending time out while they eat. Most of them don't bond with us - at least not yet, and I figure if they were going to it would have happened after a year. There is one exception, Funny Face. We still can't touch him, but he fled the barn where he was placed and returned here, and comes running when we call
. Unfortunately, we don't have the space to bring him in to work with him for adoption - but - cross your fingers - we may have found someone experienced with ferals that wants to take him (we had him neutered last fall).

There's no place like home
There is hope with older ferals - I brought in 3 littermates at 2 years old and had pretty good success with all 3, although they were neutered when they were young so that did help. Two were so tame they would slept on top of us each night. The male didn't entirely calm down, but became a great indoor/outdoor cat and a sometimes lap kitty.

Good job!!
