Last week my cat swallowed a fuzzy Pom ball and it got stuck in his intestines and he needed surgery. His kidneys started to give out and after surgery fluid built up in his lungs and he needed to be on oxygen. After 3 days everything normal end out but he wasn't eating. The vet was force feeding him canned food with a syringe and he was keeping it down just fine. The vet let us take him home hoping he would eat after he was comfortably home. He came home last night and hasn't eaten yet. He drank some water and has used the litter box. I need some suggestions please! I set out can food and dry food - he smells it from time to time but won't eat it. Help please I don't want to loose my cat!!

Can you syringe it to him like your vet was to keep him nourished? Maybe even buy some pedialyte since he is drinking a bit. Maybe he just doesn't have the appetite. Nausea can definitely be a food deterrent.

My cat took a while to eat after her surgery as well. What helped was taking her into the vet for electrolyte therapy. Basically, an IV or sub-q. Maybe your kitty needs a stimulant shot to get his appetite back? If he is on pain meds or antibiotics it could be upsetting his tummy.
Keep offering food...even by hand. Drinking and using the litterbox is a good sign that he is on the mend.
