Mandie will be 15 next month. Any tips on how I can prepare for that dreaded day when she'll cross the rainbow bridge? As she gets older it crosses my mind more often. I lost Cocoa last year and am not ready to lose her. We cuddle a lot. She likes to lay on my pillow with me and she gets belly massages.

My little girl just turned 15 THIS month
.    Unfortunately, she is already on borrowed time
, but is there any reason to think that YOUR little one is unhealthy?  15 isn't necessarily old for a cat.

No matter the circumstances, I don't really think we can be prepared for what comes next.  When I lost my soul cat almost 3 years ago, I thought I would never get over it, and although I still think of him often, life did continue.  After all, I still had his "sister" and two other "brothers" to take care of, and obviously that kept me somewhat occupied.

All I can say is enjoy the time you have together, and try  not to dwell on the future.  You  never know what's around the corner.  She could live another 5 or 10 years...it's not unheard of

I would also suggest that you keep her healthy as long as possible and by age 15 i would be doing twice a year vet visits especially if there were any indications of problems and senior blood panels.  I have a 15 year old who i adore and is various medical issues.

If Mandie is healthy and you help her maintain that health there is no reason why she won't be with you for whatever number of years.  That all said, instead of dreading the future enjoy each day that she is with you.
