One of my cats long tooth in the front on top fell out what I want to know is how. Is it going to effect him when he eats? This cat already has health issues (IBD, fatty liver disease and diabetes) and I'm worried abot how it could effect him. How does it effect a cat when they loose a tooth. What about the other teeth or the gums? How I noticed when I looked at his face his mouth looked crooked. I need to know if there is something I should do.

I would have a vet examine the gum around the tooth for infection. This happened to one of my older cats one day I was petting her and noticed one of her fangs were missing. The vet looked at it and sure enough it actually broke off clean at the gum. No one knows for sure what she did. You can ask your vet with your kitty but mine told me not to worry that it won't affect anything other then the lip seeming out of place some times. My cat wasn't a cruncher and just swallowed her food whole.

I had the same problem one of my 13 yo cats was startled and ran into the other room. I looked were the cat had been sitting and a front fang tooth was laying on the floor. I checked the cat and found a hole where the fang had been. I did a web search and found a site that indicated that cats and dogs are not effected like humans are when they loose a tooth as they do not chew their food. Make sure the food is small enough to be swallowed whole and you should have no problem. Also contacting your vet and advise them as see what else they recommend.
