I took my cat to the vet 2 weeks ago because he was showing signs of a UTI, after tests the vet said he did have some crystals, but they were dissolving and that I needed to add more wet food to the diet and reduce stress, and to bring in a urine sample in 10-14 days. After the first day he was almost back to normal and is now completely back to normal. My question is, now that the 2 weeks are over, firstly I want to know if I am able to introduce some dry food back into his diet? Or when I should bring some back into his diet, I read to give only wet food for two weeks, and that is what I have been doing. Also what is the best wet to dry food ratio? I was thinking of doing wet food for two meals a day and dry for one. Before his new diet he was eating three meals daily (he is only 1 and used to eating 3 meals as a kitten, which worked best for him so I have continued to do so) but during this new diet of only wet food he has been eating twice a day. Also I have been adding water to his wet food to increase water intake over these past two weeks, is this a good thing to continue or is it unnecessary now that he has recovered? Thanks!

If you can have him only on a wet diet that is preferable for crystals and possible blockage issues. If you are feeding one meal dry but then wetting it I think that would be ok with the other meals being wet food. All vets will tell you the wetter the food the more liquid intake the better. I would also put out more water bowls to encourage more water intake. If you can get him to drink more water that can make up for the moisture he may not get in the food.

I think you are doing fine. I put out more bowls of water and my cat started drinking more you may want to try that and if your cats starts drinking more he should be ok.
