This is my cat daisy, she has suddenly gotten a lot bigger, although she doesn't look it in the picture, do you think she is pregnant or just fat?

Impossible to tell from such a small photo.  Im thinking on a photo of her nipples...

She doesnt seems really fat. Healthy cats shall have some meat, unless they belong to a breed which is supposed to be sleek and gracile, alike modern siameses and some other purebreds.

An obvious question, do you want her to have kittens?    And if not, so why didnt you spayed her?

You can still spay her without any medical problems, EVEN if she would be preg.

The foetuses arent able to live on their own before perhaps two days before the normal delivery. So spay/abortions isnt so touchy as it perhaps seems.

Good luck!

StefanZ StefanZ Her and her mother and sister are all really small skinny cats, and now she suddenly has a bulge in the middle, which is why I'm thinking that she is, unless maybe she has had just been over eating? And as for wanting her to have kittens, i didn't necessarily want her too, but I just hadn't got around to getting her fixed yet, she is only about 8 months and I hadn't seen any signs of her going into heat yet, so I was just going to bring her in the house when she went into heat if I hadn't spayed her yet. After how many weeks of pregnancy would her nipples start to turn pink?

I can see the belly you are talking about.

A female can go in heat even before you notice it. A male cat will pick up on it even before she's having signs and can jump her even before you know it. So it's surely possible she's pregnant at 8 months old; but if she is you shouldn't be happy with it. 8 months is way too young to be pregnant and can cause danger to both the mother AND the kittens. Keep a really good eye on her, and be prepared to bottle feed the kittens if they are born healthily every 2 hours for weeks, including during the nights, if she's indeed pregnant. There's a chance she's too young to understand what to do, and you will need to step in and take over.

Anyway, let's go back to what you asked. I can't really see her nipples yet, so I can't say a lot about this. Showing usually apears around 5-6 weeks into the pregnancy. The nipples should have swelled up a little and turn red-ish starting 3-4 weeks. So as you are saying she is turning fatter/showing, she should also already have the nipples changing. Can you post us a picture of a few of her nipples, so we can help you see if she's pregnant? This picture alone makes it hard to see.

I suspect she is pregnant then, yes. Unspayed female of age, allowed to roam outside?   If  I were allowed to bet on such premises, I would be rich, fat and rich. Even if the bet would be just a dollar for each cat.

The usual is, the nipples go rosy red (raspberry red) quite precisely at three weeks. A noticeable bigger belly somewhat later.

Although in some few cases the nipples dont get that clearly rose.

StefanZ StefanZ biancavd biancavd Thank you, I will post more pictures later. And if she is pregnant and I have to raise the babies I have experience in that. Daisys mom was a feral cat and I found daisy and her 4 siblings in the barn when they were just a few days old, and then a couple days later I found their mother dead, so I raised the 5 of them without any problems. I'm hoping she is not pregnant. And hopefully I can get enough money in time to get her spayed before she does get pregnant.

Outdoor cats do usually get pregnant in January/February :/. All the unspayed females will get pregnant, cats are very fertile. And, yes, usually the tomcats get to them before they show any signs of heat so you may not notice until they're showing. So even if she isn't pregnant yet, she will be very soon.

So hopefully you can find a way to get all the females spayed veryvery soon or there are going to be a lot more kittens.

As for the picture, she probably isn't showing yet even if she is pregnant. I would guess worms or just a bit of a poochy tummy.

Her nipples are not pink, but as you said they sometimes don't turn pink. But for the past week her stomach has gotten noticeably bigger each day, and I have not increased her food any. The other two cats that live outside with her are not gaining any weight, and no one is showing signs of worms. Aside from the growing belly she has been food aggressive and she runs inside and gets in the dog bed every time I open the door, both of which things she's never done in the past. So even though her nipples aren't pink, I'm still thinking she might be? I tried to get more pictures but she will not lay on her back or let me touch her stomach without moving. I'm bringing her inside so I can keep an eye her for the next couple of weeks, and if she is pregnant I will let her have the kittens with close monitoring and keep her indoors until I can get her to the vet. Also, if she does have kittens, will it be okay to have her and the kittens in the house with my indoor cat? W Willowy StefanZ StefanZ biancavd biancavd

do they had  meet  earlier?  I mean, possible problems of quarantine.   If they meets regularly, I suppose no quarantine is necessary.

If they meets, are they friendly with each other?

If so, you can surely let them meet further on too. Let her decide, if she gets sour on him and wants to be left alone, obey the mom.  But if she accepts company of a friendly indoors only cat, its OK.  She perhaps even demands this company!  Supervise him when kittens has come.  But if he is OK with kittens and mom accepts, allow him to be an extra caretaker, female or male.  Quite a few are, even males - especielly common if the male is neutered, but also a tom who is good friend with mom may be a nice caretaker.

Be vigilant, you must play the tune by ear, but this is fully possible yes.

If you are uncertain, the safety principle is to have them apart and isolated from each other, and let them meet first when the kittens are at least 4-5 weeks.

StefanZ StefanZ They are inside together right now, I just brought her in, they have met a couple times, right now they are just looking at each other (no fighting or anything) I figure if she is pregnant she has plenty of time to get to know my other cat (which is a 6 month old female) also I finally got a picture of her nipples, which actually appear to be more pink than they were a couple of hours ago, but they are still are fairly colorless.
