Cats sheeding claw sheaths too often?

My cats and I moved to London about two months ago. They were used to a warmer climate, and this is the first time they live in a place with carpets throughout the house. Every time I sweep (every day, that is) I find sheaths of their claws. I know this is normal, but it seems like it's happening two often- aren't they supposed to shed every few months only? I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and if I should maybe look into changing their food or even taking them to the vet.

Many purrs and thanks!

I wouldn't worry too much at all about this. Change of climate for sure AND the fact that you have carpets and they just may be scratching and enjoying the new carpeted floors. As long as you don't see any issues surrounding the nail beds, no sores and no redness, not to worry. Sounds to me as if your cats are preparing for war ;) and growing out their nails at a rapid pace!! :lol3: Congrats on your move to London, btw. :wavey:

Thanks! I dreaded the long-haul flight they were going to have to endure, but in the end it looks like they had a better flight experience than me!

I've checked their nailbeds and all appears to be ok, I'm starting to clip their nails now because I don't want them to cost me my deposit money in new carpeting. But oh yes, they scratch as though they were getting their swords ready for battle, and those battles usually start whenever it's bed time for me, of course. Cats will be cats, and I do have 3 teenage boys, which just adds to their nightly shenanigans.

Thanks for your advice!

:lol3: I have six - and know all about the nightly trouble makers just as we are about to go to sleep too, it starts. I clip my cat's claws about every week or two. They are all used to it. I have to for many reasons, but one is that I have a tough kitty who rules the roost and won't hold anything back when it comes to asserting his "claw" authority. GOOD LUCK with everything !!! :)
