I just heard this song the other day on the Radio & it touched my heart so deeply. It definitely gives me a lump in my throat & makes me hold back those tears in my eyes.

Clay Walker "A Few Questions"

How in this world can we put a man on the moon
And still have a need for a place like St. Jude's
And why is one man born in a place where all they know is war
And a guy like me has always been free
And how can two people who've built a loving home
Try for years and never have a child of their own
And somewhere out there tonight there's a baby no one's holding tight
In need of love, to me that don't add up

But I wasn't there the day you filled up the oceans
I didnt' get to see you hang the stars in the sky
So I don't mean to second guess you or criticize what I don't understand
These are just a few questions I have

And why did my cousin have to die in that crash
A good kid only 17, I still wonder about that
It seems unfair to me some get the chance to chase their dreams
And some don't, but what do I know?

I wasn't there the day you filled up the oceans
I didnt' get to see you hang the stars in the sky
So I don't mean to second guess you or criticize what I don't understand
These are just a few questions I have

Why do I feel like you're hearing these prayers of mine
When so many outta be ahead of me in line
When you look down on me, can you see the good through all the bad
These are just a few questions I have

Anyone else have any songs that have touched you? New or Old?

Right here! :)
Hey Shell! Nice to see you again!

This is touching song you wrote there!

There are so many song that really touch me and bring tears to my eyes!

The other day I heard "Everybody hurts" with REM. I just love that song, and it really brings tears to my eyes.
I dont know if I remember the text right now (its 5 am!)

When the day is long, in the night
and the night is yours alone
and you think you´ve had to much of this life,
hang on
´couse everybody hurts
everybody cries...I think I´ll play the cd tomorrow and then edid this message!

There is also another song that comes to mind right now, which I have known since I was a kid, but just recently realized the touchiness of it, since I now can relate to my own experience.
That is a beautyful song that is to a mum from a child and the message is something like that:

I will paint the whole world, dear mummy,
only sunshine, bright and even.
Even though it gets dark in cold, short days,
your days will still be bright.
Every little flower you want to buy,
I will colour them on my colour sheet.
I will paint the whole world, dear mummy,
so the sun will always shine in your house.

Mummy, are you sad? Tell me what is wrong,
I´m sure I can paint happiness over it.
I have so many beautyful colours for you,
please don´t cry mummy, please smile for me!

Make a wish, dear mummy, everything you want!
I still have colours to pain anything!
Every star of the world and adventurous mountains,
make a wish dear mummy, then I will pain them all.

I will pain the world, dear mummy...

This last summer when I was depressed and lonely and possibly soon to be a single mum, just crying and sad all day, I was trying to be cheerful for my son, but wasn´t very successful, but my son really did everything he could to make me smile. Soon after I bought this children dvd for him, including this song, and then it just hit me that there was a deeper meaning to this song that I had ever realized, and it makes me tear up every time I hear it, or try to sing it

Its strange you mention that song as I have listened to it time after time, day after day in and out of the car. Just leave it on repeat on the cd. I learnt years ago it was princess Diana's favourite and its been so right over the last few months.
If you cant find it, I can copy and email it to you. The video is incredible too. Kev

I have so many songs that touch my heart that they are catalogued and recorded on CDs. Just recently I have been listening to my Phil Collins/Genesis series of songs that bring a tear to my eye.

Music always touches me, and can change my mood in a minute. Especially Social Distortion's "Crown of Thorns" and many others by them, just that one came to mind. And "It's Been Awhile" by Staind.

This song reminds me of me and my old boyfriend who died back in 1994.

This Used To Be My Playground
Madonna

Chorus:

This used to be my playground [used to be]
This used to be my childhood dream
This used to be the place I ran to
Whenever I was in need
Of a friend
Why did it have to end
And why do they always say

Don't look back
Keep your head held high
Don't ask them why
Because life is short
And before you know
You're feeling old
And your heart is breaking
Don't hold on to the past
Well that's too much to ask

(chorus)

Live and learn
Well the years they flew
And we never knew
We were foolish then
We would never tire
And that little fire
Is still alive in me
It will never go away
Can't say goodbye to yesterday [can't say goodbye]

(chorus)

No regrets
But I wish that you
Were here with me
Well then there's hope yet
I can see your face
In our secret place
You're not just a memory
Say goodbye to yesterday [the dream]
Those are words I'll never say [I'll never say]

This used to be my playground [used to be]
This used to be our pride and joy
This used to be the place we ran to
That no one in the world could dare destroy

We used to meet in a playground every day after school.

This song is from the musical, "Miss Saigon"
When I first heard this song, I was
, and it still brings tears to my eyes when I read it/listen to it. This was sung in the play, by a young Vietnamese mother to her son, who was a son to her and a Marine during the Vietnam War. The mother wants what is best for her son, knowing that she, herself, has no possible good future.

You who I cradled in my arms- you
asking as little as you can
little snip of a litle man
I know I'd give my life for you

I've tasted love beyond all fear
And you should know it's love that brought you here
And in one perfect night when the stars burned like new
I knew what I must do

I'll give you a milllion things I'll never own
I'll give you a world to conquer when you're grown

You will be who you want to be-you
can choose whatever heaven grants
as long as you can have your chance
I swear I'll give my life for you

Sometimes I wake up reaching for him
I feel his shadow brush my head
But there's just moonlight on my bed
Was he a ghost? Was he a lie that made my body laugh and cry?
Then by my side, The proof I see:
His little one
Gods of the Sun
Bring him to me

You will be who you want to be-you
Can choose whatever heaven grants
As long as you can have your chance
I swear I'll give my life for you

No one can stop what I must do
I swear I'll give my life for you.

There are a few,but this one makes me
everytime. It just seems to play on the radio at the strangest times. It played a couple of years ago as I was on my way to my cousin's funeral(died from cancer)
It also played when we were on our way home from the hospital in April of this year when Mike's mamaw got killed. It played a lot around the wake and funeral.

Sarah McLachlan-Angel

spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always one reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memory seeps from my veins
let me be empty
and weightless and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there

so tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
and the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lie
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees

in the arms of an angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you fear
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort there
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

That is one of my all time favorite songs! It's so sad but I do love it regardless. I can't count how many times I've been asked to sing that one.

That song that goes.. "You were my eyes when I couldn't speak.. (skip) because you love me.." I think it's Celine Dion. Anyways don't play it near me it always makes me cry.

and this other one "absolutely everybody, everybody everybody, absolutely everybody in the whole wide world, every body.."

A tear coming to my eye just thinking about these songs.

"Concrete Angel" by Martina McBride. And the video is heartbreaking and very touching. It's all about a little girl.

She walks to school with the lunch she packed
Nobody knows what she's holdin' back
Wearin' the same dress she wore yesterday
She hides the bruises with linen and lace

The teacher wonders but she doesn't ask
It's hard to see the pain behind the mask
Bearing the burden of a secret storm
Sometimes she wishes she was never born

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Somebody cries in the middle of the night
The neighbors hear, but they turn out the lights
A fragile soul caught in the hands of fate
When morning comes
it'll be too late

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

A statue stands in a shaded place
An angel girl with an upturned face
A name is written on a polished rock
A broken heart that the world forgot

Through the wind and the rain
She stands hard as a stone
In a world that she can't rise above.
But her dreams give her wings
And she flies to a place where she's loved
Concrete angel

Is it all in that pretty little head of yours?
What goes on in that place in the dark?
Well I used to know a girl and I could have
sworn that her name was Veronica
Well she used to have a carefree mind of her own
and a delicate look in her eye
These days I'm afraid she's not even sure if her
name is Veronica

Chorus:
Do you suppose, that waiting hands on eyes,
Veronica has gone to hide?
and all the time she laughs at those who shout
her name and steal her clothes.
Veronica, Veronica, Veronica

[chorus]

Did the days drag by? Did the favours wane?
Did he roam down the town all the while?
did you wake from your dream, with a wolf at
the door, reaching out for Veronica
Well it was all of sixty-five years ago
When the world was the street where she lived
And a young man sailed on a ship in the sea
With a picture of Veronica

On the "Empress of India"
And as she closed her eyes upon the world and
picked upon the bones of last week's news
She spoke his name outloud again

Do you suppose, that waiting hands on eyes,
Veronica has gone to hide?
and all the time she laughs at those who shout
her name and steal her clothes.
Veronica, Veronica, Veronica

Veronica sits in her favorite chair
she sits very quiet and still
and they call her a name that they never get right
and if they don't then nobody else will
well she used to have a carefree mind of her own
with a devilish look in her eye
saying you can call me anything you like
but my name is Veronica

Do you suppose, that waiting hands on eyes,
Veronica has gone to hide?
and all the time she laughs at those who shout
her name and steal her clothes.
Veronica, Veronica, Veronica

("Veronica", Elvis Costello, 1989)
