Hello good people! So my cat Stash was diagnosed with a bacterial infection :( They gave him an antibiotic injection yesterday but today we have found blood in the bath tub. I am so worried
Is this common for bleeding to continue after treatment? Please share with me..thank you

I would phone the vet and ask them.   I would think a wound would need more than one day to heal but we have no idea what this wound looks like, where it is, or how bad it is.

I'm sorry I was a bit overcome and did not specify. It's a urinary infection. They said to keep an eye on him for a couple of days..I don't know what they used to treat him. I won't be able to reach them til Monday. Should I call the animal hospital?! Is it common for tract bleeding to continue after treatment? This seems so wrong :(

The antibiotics aren`t to stop the bleeding, they`re to stop the infection which is causing the bleeding.   They didn`t itemize the bill?  The medicine should be listed there.

On a side note what are you feeding him?

Ok so I take it that the bleeding will take awhile to ease up. Is that what you are saying? I feed him a really great diet. He gets a mix of wet and dry food 2x daily. His dry food is Solid Gold a high protein no filler brand and his wet is petpride. We also give him many treats and well he was an indoor outdoor so well prey was on the menu

Yes I think it would take a few days to knock out the infection and then for the inflammation to settle down.   Unless it is a large volume of blood I think it`s OK to wait till monday so you can give the vet a phone call.

Diet sounds great just wondering what the treats are.   Is it something like Temptations?   If so, I would consider something healthier.   Those little bags of treats usually have high grain content and unhealthy preservatives and colorings.

Good luck!

Thank you :) That eases my mind. He does like Temptations but also has Trader Joe's Natural treats, Pure Bites and whatever nice people snacks me and my housemate provide :)
