Teddy is 4 years old and I've had him since August. He LOVED his wet food at first. I was feeding him half wet and half dry food (separate bowls) . I give him a can of wet a day part of it in the morning and part of it in the evening. And left about a half cup of dry food out all day. He usually eats all of it but doesn't gorge himself. He paces himself and nibbles all day.  Well over the last several weeks he's started taking longer to eat his wet food . I got some different brands to try because it seemed like he wasnt' that excited to eat his old favorites anymore. Well now he's leaving lots of his wet food barely touched. He goes over, eats a little and leaves the rest to dry up all day never touching it again. He leaves it over night too. He had previously gained some weight (not much) but I was decreasing his dry food but now I think I'll need to start giving him more dry food because he's barely touching his wet food. He used to be so excited to eat wet food and now he's not. I don't know what the problem is. He seems fine otherwise. still eats all his dry food over the da, poops and pees fine. He doesn't act off or sick in any other way. I am not sure if the newness of wet food wore off or if I'm feeding him too much of the wet food so he is hating it or something? I don't understand. Should I just give him mostly dry food and give him a little wet food now and then instead? I was giving him wet and dry because I read that was better for health and for male cats. I don't want him to get a uti or anything like that. He never drinks much water but always pees enough from the wet food. Anyone experience pickiness with the wet food suddenly or over time?

I too have fed a combination of wet and dry food for many years.  In cases where my cats suddenly went off their wet food, often there was a problem with the food.  Sometimes the company had changed the recipe and the cats didn't like it anymore.  In one case, the food was actually bad and they were smart enough not to eat it (it was later recalled).  Since they had their dry food to turn to, they didn't eat the wet food and get sick.  I'm not sure which brand you were feeding, but do always do a search on Google (or whatever search engine you use) to check on "Complaints about _______ food, using the company name to get general complaints, or the company and food name to get more specific complaints, and if there ARE any, they will usually show up.  Check the cans and see if they are all the same production date and time.  The lot I had with the bad cans had several different production dates and times and only one date and time was bad and recalled later.  Recalls always happen AFTER many complaints, which is why you should always check for complaints.  I would suspect your original brand changed something in their formula, and your cat was used to eating it the way it was and is still missing that flavor.  Cats can get habituated to eating one thing, and one thing only   It's best to swap them around some to keep them flexible. Here is a post from another person who has been trying to find a good food for her fussy IBD cat, and she had good luck this weekend.  You might want to try some of the foods she mentioned.  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/290791/successful-cat-food-adventure-this-weekend#post_3676410
