Could I please ask for a few positive vibes for Cricket that her spay goes well tomorrow, and that she heals quickly so we can bring her home. It will still be a week or so before we can get her. The shelter won't let us take her until they're sure she's okay and eating properly - which I do appreciate - and they have promised to take good care of her in the meantime.

You're taking her? YAY!! Good for you!! I hope everything works out with her and Swanie. Hopefully they will become best pals. Lilith, Sophie and I send lots of love and good vibes Cricket's way and we hope her recovery is quick and easy.

Well, Cricket will not be getting spayed today.  The volunteer who was supposed to take up the food and water for the cats getting surgery today didn't do it.  We are disappointed, but we're glad they are doing the right thing and not taking a chance.  They're discussing how to handle it so she doesn't have to be there another week waiting for the spay.

The Director says they are going to do their best to get it done ASAP.  Her sister Sasha got adopted yesterday.  Sasha was further along in the process because They had a hard time getting Cricket to eat when she first got there.  We'll probably go visit Cricket this evening after work.

Thank you

I am a wreck about it.  I usually cry whenever I have to drop one off at the vets for any reason.  Routine stuff we just stay with them, but dentals or surgery, those are hard.

I am the nervous momma who sits in the waiting room the whole time they are under. My vet is my neighbor so they let me go in the OP room as soon as they are done. I spend my afternoon holding my babies. The sad part is I schedule humans for major surgeries everyday.

I hope they can get it done soon so she can come home to her family!!!

Thanks! Like you I am a nervous mama and would sit in the waiting room if I could. I've settled for the next best and have them call or text me when he's done.

Aw! Sorry to hear they will be keeping her so long! It will save you some worry though! After Asia got spayed they sent her home immediately and we had I be so careful that she didn't hurt her self because she was a CRAZY kitten, and we couldn't pick her up for days which was really hard!

They keep her because they want to make sure she is healing good and that she's eating.  What they do is after they come back from being spayed / neutered  is have someone there watching them, taking their temperature etc.  Apparently sometimes it goes high, and then it goes low, so they have to watch. Also with Cricket, when she first got there, they had a hard time getting her to eat, so they want to make sure she doesn't go back into that mode again. I appreciate that they do that, and would rather they watch her there then us try to watch her here. Especially with the temperature thing.  I know what you mean though. Back when Cindy had her surgery for the tumor, she stayed in the hospital for 3 days, then we brought her home with a cone.  They said keep the cone on, and don't let her jump.  Well, one of the first things she did was jump on the bed and then over to the dresser.  Then that night she got her front leg stuck in the cone trying to get it off.  We took the cone off so she didn't  hurt herself, and she did just fine. I can imagine it would hard not to be able to pick Asia up!  Hopefully, she's doing great now.

She is doing great now, thank you :)
It's funny because that's the first thing she did too, jump! I think it was the first day after the surgery or maybe even the night of, and she *attempted* to jump up on the hassock but she was on pain meds so she ended up missing the hassock and just falling.. Thankfully she didn't get hurt and now it's a cute memory. It's impossible to stop a cat from jumping lol!
