It would really depend on the type of infection, there are so many antibiotics.  Has the vet prescribed it?  Don't use it unless they have.  If there is no bacterial infection present the antibiotic won't be effective, they don't work on viruses.

If you took your cats to the vet and he or she prescribed it and you are not sure why it is best to ask the vet. That is your right as your cats caretaker. Penicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic it treats a lot of different type infections from mouth to tail, but it needs to be given under vet supervision because amounts vary by cat.

so health, age, size affect the dosage? what happens if given too little or too much?

too little the cat's infection will not get better, too much would probably kill them. Cats have relatively small bodies. If you vet prescribed an antibiotic it may be he or she suspects an infection as well. It sounds like you are concerned so I would call the vet and ask why.

they did have a uri but i didn't take them in because we don't have the money so that was a guess but it seem to went away, my mom was talking to her friend about it and she was said to give penicillian but since i don't know anything about it and since her friend is not a vet but does seems knowledge when it comes to animals, i thought to ask about it.and that why i am concerned

I can't stress enough that you should not be giving your cat anything unless you check with a vet.

Penicillin alone treats very few things these days because of bacterial resistance from over and improper use of it. Many antibiotics are no longer working for their previous purpose for this reason. Without knowing what you're treating or giving antibiotics for something they won't cure, you're only contributing to medication resistance. This is how we get problems like MRSA. Best to see a vet.

I had a feeling that is where you were going with this. Please try to find a humane society in your area they provide low cost exams and sometimes they will work with you on paying for the exam if you do not have any money. Find out what medicine the vet prescribes if it is an antibiotic check with walmart pharmacy or your grocery store pharmacy because sometimes it's free or $4. If you have old antibiotic laying around do not give it to your cat without approval from a vet. Anyway in all likelihood it is no good anyway, antibiotics do not last and become ineffective after a short period of time after you open the bottle or get the pills. Have you tried contacting the humane society?

In the meantime if your cats are still congested clean the crustees from their eyes and nose and try putting them in the bathroom and run a hot shower and let them breath in the stream for a few minutes to get them sneezing. Also you can use a baby humidifier without any Vicks put in it to get the steam to them. This won't go away without treatment but until you can get it try these things.

If your cat has crusting around eyes and nose it may be painful so be very gentle if you are washing to clean the area.  Use clean, warm water on a soft cloth or cottonwool, and use a fresh piece each time you wipe the area.  If the skin looks broken at all you are best leaving any cleaning to a vet I think in case of infection and because of the pain it might cause your cat.

Pease do not use any medication without veterinary advice, esp antibiotics.  Not only can they increase future resistance globally, and potentially not work on the bacteria which are present for your cat, they stress the kidneys and wrong doses can be fatal.  Not only that but there is a high risk of allergic reactions which can be severe and fatal, esp with something like Penecillin.

they doing great no sneezing or anything, i haven't take them to a vet yet it difficult when i have to rely on my mom to take them for me and pay for it, i just wish i had went to get my driver licence, i just can't wait until i get my licence and move out so i can provide them vet care and don't have to rely on anyone
