He was not interested in eating... This may be wrong but I wrapped him in his blanket and put tiny bites of tuna in his mouth so at least he has some food in his belly and maybe start to feel better...
I had a 6 week old kitten who wasn't eating for days. My vet told me to put some soft food in a syringe and feed her with it, because she needs food. It took 1,5 weeks, but now she's completely healthy and growing as if nothing ever happened. If you have some of this soft food lying around (so no pieces but like pate), try feeding him and see if he's eating it. Don't force force it, but it's okay to help getting it in his mouth so he can get some food inside. Don't overdo it and make sure he doesn't vomit after it all the time, then it's basically useless and only making things worse.

Try doing this tomorrow and take him to a vet instantly on monday. And make sure he continues to drink.

I also take it the emergency vet does not take call for your current vet. I would be really concerned with him not eating. Maybe some of the people here experienced in rescue can help until the vet calls you back, @ShadowsRescue, @catwoman707, @StephenQ
Your vet should be open mon am. Call them first thing. Until then offer him tasty food and water. Don't force food into his mouth. He won't starve between now and monday but he needs a vet.

Okay so in a prior post you mentioned something (post #12) about maybe he is sensitive to the medication?

Do you mean the anesthesia given for the surgery or is he on pain medication?

He does not need pain meds if he is, so I would not give him this.

Occasionally I have had a cat who just wasn't getting back to eating although when I first brought him back fed him canned and he ate it great.

Technically they are not supposed to be fed anything, just water until the following day, however I take it upon myself to offer canned when they get back.

You said he ate alot then, but hasn't much since.

If he is literally not eating ANYTHING and has not for more than 1 full day, then you do need to syringe feed him. A cat must eat a minimum of 50% of their normal calories a day to not go into the danger zone.

Hydration is critical too, so any food offered should be diluted.

They hate this, yes, but it can be a lifeline too, so if need be, he will suffer through it and will be much better off.

You can try these things, if no interest then it's time to get some into him anyway.

Warmed chicken or turkey baby food diluted with pediolyte.

KMR milk warmed

Chicken broth warm

ANY meat canned food diluted

Tuna water with small bits of tuna

You don't mention which topical flea med he was given prior and how long ago so I can't tell you what is okay or not for fleas.

As for his temp, if you are in tune with your cat you will likely know if he is running a fever simply by how he feels.

Our hands are amazingly sensitive, and even a few degrees higher than normal can be easily felt just by holding him.

A cat with a fever feels like they are radiating heat. Neck, ears, even their paws get warmer. Tummy too.

I would expect if he did have a fever he would also be acting lethargic.

It is very important to know what lethargy looks like in a cat.

Laying around, sleeping/napping alot, no interest in play, or anything else really. Weak/tired acting, not going from room to room, just lacking interest. Sort of just 'out of it'.

Hello everyone and thank you so much for the advise about Gilligan... I was able to force fed tiny bits of tuna, he drank water like normal... By Sunday his was getting back to normal with his soft (canned) food in small amounts at a time. Today he ate well 3 times with soft food on his own and he is free fed dry food at all times. No more vomiting and thankfully I have wood floors for easy clean up and tracking. He wants cuddled more than normal which I am happy to give him. The flea medication I gave him was Capstar and was given when I took him 3 1/2 months ago, but he will need another treatment when he is up to par.  No fever and I do know him quite well to be able to judge his body temp, no swelling and no drainage... Maybe my mistake was feeding him shortly after I got him home or maybe a reaction to the anesthesia ? The vet said he would not need pain meds so it was not that either... I love this little guy and was very worried and thank you all for the advise and kind words. Declaw is not even an option (I think it cruel) but he has been rocking black and orange Softpaws (Go Flyers). Again Gilligan and I thank you to everyone ! Some people don't understand the bond between you and your furry friend and it's nice to find a community here...

That's Great!!! I would ask the vet for something for fleas other than Capstar. Capstar will kill the live fleas on him, but only works for I think 24 hours. It does not take care of any eggs or larvae. I have used it on my ferals to give a little relief from the bites, but then I put a topical on them. I use Revolution, but there are lots of others that other people recommend.

KittyMomma1122 ~ I used capstar along with daily baths because he was very underweight (less than a pound at 4 month) and I knew Capstar could be used by weight and topical medication would have been to strong. I have revolution but will wait until he is eating very well and back to normal. If I am not mistaken Revolution works for ear mites which he does not have but can get them from fleas ? He is running around like a crazy man today so he is on the up swing.

That is great!!! I do not think you can get earmites from fleas. I did not realize he was that small.

No, earmites are not from fleas.

Grumpy, daily bathing is excessive and will dry the skin out too much.

If there are fleas in their environment it's best until topical treatment can be used to use a flea comb in between :)

Yes, he was not being fed every day and physical abuse that I thought at first caused internal damage, but as he is growing well and healthy I don't think that's a concern now. You could feel every bone in his spine and had no muscle tone in his legs. I'll attach a picture of him when he first came home and one taken a few weeks ago... He was being thrown outside to use the bathroom as a baby and thrown against the wall a few times... It makes me sick to even think about it, but his fur was actually stained orange from diarrhea that eventually fell out and regrew to his normal color... When I saw him I knew he was not going to live long in his current situation and I could not leave him there... He was covered in fleas, no ear mites so far but I check often. He has great muscles now and seems happy and content. He is a sweet boy and goes to visit my mother in rehab and just snuggles with her and I don't think many cats would adjust as well as he does to visits. I think my calm energy transfers to him and he knows he is loved know... We both thank you for the advise and he i
s eating like normal now and still wants to be snuggled a lot which I am glad to give him... Have a peaceful night everyone...

Look at that sweet face!! Oh my gosh, how can anyone not kiss him all over it??!!

I can't hear about physical abuse, it sickens me quite literally. Not animals. Or children of course but little innocent animals, gosh they're not much different then our children...........mine are my children.
