Good morning and Happy Friday! It's been a long week here; we had those days off work around the holidays, so this is the first week in a while that I've actually had to work 5 days.
 I'm ready for the weekend.

Very easy question this morning: What is one thing that you cannot leave your house without?

Me.....my purse. It's got my wallet, cell phone, car keys, etc. I remember when I used to just stick my wallet in the car because of having my driver's license with me. I'd carry money in my back pocket. But now, if I'm going anywhere, my purse is, too!

I also always have my purse.  The main things in my purse that I always want to take with me are my drivers license, registration, proof of insurance, my debit card and my cell phone.  I have my triple A membership info on my key ring.

Nothing really.

I don't like carrying a purse, and I switch bags up depending on where I'm going. I take my backpack to school (which I have to pre-pack the night before with the stuff for the following day's classes, snacks, water bottle, and my wallet) and I used to take my purse to work, but the handle is clinging by a thread so I switched to a small backpack just to carry my water bottle and a snack. I only bring my wallet to work if I have plans to buy something afterwards.

I can easily go out with nothing. If I'm going somewhere and my boyfriend is driving, I tend to not bring my keys. I grab my wallet (if I remember) in case I want something, and I grab my phone if I remember. If I'm going out alone, the only thing I can guarantee I'll grab is my keys because I need them to lock the door on my way out. It's easier in the winter when I'm wearing big coats with pockets I can put my wallet, phone, and keys in. When I lived with my parents and drove, keys were the only thing I was guaranteed to remember too. edit; I should have always remembered my ID and insurance info then too, but that didn't magically make it appear in my car or pocket.

I never go anywhere without ID.  The least I carry is an ID necklace when I'm out for a jog or walk.

This is because of a sad story--one of my friends' husband went out for a bicycle ride.  She was out shopping and didn't realize he hadn't come back home on schedule.  Turns out he got hit by a car and taken to the hospital, unconscious.  Because he had no ID, they couldn't contact his family to let him know what happened.  By the time my friend had called around to police and hospitals and located him, he had died without regaining consciousness. There was nothing she could have done, but she always regretted not having been there with him at the end.

So....sorry for the downer story but I learned from it.  I got an ID necklace for myself and have bought several road ID's for friends and family so that if something happens to them while they're out biking/walking/running, the emergency personnel will know who to contact.

I don't carry a purse (had it stolen twice years ago) but have a checkbook holder that has everything I need, credit cards, ID, checks, etc. During the summer (no coat pockets) I usually carry my ID and cash in my jean pockets. I ALWAYS have my ID and some cash when I leave the house.

Wallet also, but a lot of the time I carry my Kindle with me too.
Fits inside all my jacket and coat pockets.

Purse for me too.  My kids are getting big enough that the diaper bag can be left in the car when we reach our destination most of the time; but that comes out of the house with us too.  Sometimes I leave the bag in the car when we get home to; but it's so cold now the wipes might freeze!

Before I had Hudson 3 months ago, I used to just throw a few diapers, wipes and snacks in my purse. Much easier than a diaper bag. Now I'm using it again because I have both in diapers and a baby who spits up a lot so we need a couple extra outfits and bibs when we go out.

Car fob, and here is why:  as I keep my car in my garage, I leave my bag in the car.  The car fob has to be on me for the car to start (keyless start).  So my credit cards, ID, etc are already in the car all the time.  If I don't have the fob, I can't start the car.  On rare occasions I will bring my bag in with me.  In general, I leave with the fob in my pocket and only realize I have no license, credit cards, money etc. when I arrive at my destination.
Then I have to turn around and go back home for the bag.

When I walk the dogs, I need the electric door opener.  That is not in the car, because my car has programmable buttons in it.  So the door opener stays on the counter, and goes in my pocket so we can leave and enter the house easily; we go in and out the garage door.  With 4 dogs, I couldn't manage a door!  I need to put some sort of id with that door opener, after reading this thread!!!

In nice weather, say May through October, the fob is in my shorts or pants pocket.  Then when I start wearing a jacket, I have to remember to put it in a jacket pocket; otherwise when I leave later in the day, I leave the jacket behind.

Keys for my bicycle.

I get a bus down the mountain into town and then bike around to do any errands I have to run that day. I forgot by bike key the other day and it took me twice as long to do everything.

I always carry one can of cat food in my bag too, just in case.

Does that make me crazy?
