Hi, my 2 year old Siamese mix seems healthy but has thrown up more than normal recently, including all over his bed last night, which makes me think his nausea came on quickly.

He gets Hairball med several times a week and eats Purina ONE hairball food dry, along with a few cans of canned a week. The last couple cans, he ate with gusto.

I'm worried but not overly do because this is a pattern for him, but it's been several months since this happened. He was at the vet 2 weeks ago and seemed perfectly healthy.

He is overweight by 2 pounds. Could this give him kitty heartburn? I wish I could switch him to mostly canned food, but oh my that is an extra $40 a month--money I don't have.

He did seem to eat the other day as if ut was hard to get down. He mouthed it and dropped several pieces. He seemed better today. The vet thinks he has herpes. Might thAt give him mouth sores time to time?

No, none at all. I really don't have a clue. His nose is cool and damp, his ears feel ok, he's playing, his belly isn't tender.

The one thing that leaves me uneasy is that he seems to have ruffled fur. I have had my apartment exterminated recently and hope he hasn't eated a poisoned bug or something, though that's unlikely.

He's thrown up a bit the last few months . Vet didn't seem concerned. He even vomited onto a power strip....now that was scary to see!

Is there whole kibble bits in the throw up? Or is it mainly just liquid? Last question, how soon after he eats, does he throw up?

It's about 2/3 whole kibble, the rest seems pretty well eaten. And im not sure when he gets sick. I'm either sleeping or at work.

We have Siamese mixes, too, and our vet has told us Siamese cats (including mixes) tend to have digestive issues. Is the food new to your cat? Or perhaps he's developed a sensitivity to an ingredient in his food, like the corn or wheat?

And since you mentioned him dropping his food... has the vet checked his teeth? Apparently Siamese cats are also prone to dental problems! We found this out  the hard way when our cats, who are also about two years old, had their annual exam last month: they had gingivitis and had to have their teeth cleaned. No fun for anyone.

I hope you're able to find the source of the problem soon, @misterwhiskers.

Thank you. This is the food he's eaten for 2 years, and he is VERY picky, so i hope it's not that. His vet saw him 2 weeks ago and said his teeth look ok. But maybe now that it's winter, he just prefers wet food? He's eating his dry right now--I just hope he can keep it down.

Yes, picky cats can be difficult! I'm glad your cat's teeth look good -- this isn't a fun issue to deal with, either.

How did it go with the food this afternoon? And you mentioned that your cat had been eating the canned food with gusto... maybe he really does prefer that now? Our cats are big on variety and seem to change their minds about their foods very quickly.

I would take him to the vet and get blood work. I recently learned that vomiting should be rare and can be the sign of a problem, especially if the cat is losing weight.

Hi, he doesn't seem to be losing weight...he nibbled today and I found no more vomit today, but I bought him some canned. He happily ate half a can of people tuna last night. It's the dry he's turning his nose up at. If he continues this way I will schedule an appointment with the vet.

Does he have a chronic hairball problem? Most hairball remedies I thought are only once a week maybe 2 times. Have you tried reducing that? you give him the paste?

You might have a point. I give him one inch strip twice a week plus A dab every day! Maybe it's too much! Thank you!

What kind of food are you feeding? Try a grain free food. Doing this changed our cats life and ours.

We went through that with my oldest Siamese/Tabby mix. He was a perpetual vomit machine.
It happens with humans too... sometimes something upsets your stomach so much that it goes into regurge mode where nothing but bile comes up and you have to stop it. He would vomit and try to eat and vomit again so much that he just stopped eating because it hurt him.

But... we have a great vet and a good shot of steroids with some special medical diet food given one tablespoon incriments per hour, helped him get back to his old self.

I hope your kitty feels better soon!
