Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew about prednisolone syrups colors.  I have a little girl on prednisolone for cancer.  There's nothing we can do for her except keep her comfortable.  Our doctor tried her on prednisolone and she has responded very well.  The carcinoma has shrunk and she is living normal.  When diagnosed back in July (2014), she was given 3 months, but here it is in the new year and she is going strong.

She's been on the prednisolone since October.  Initially, the syrup was pink.  Today I got a refill, but the new syrup is a light honey color.  I asked the vet office to double check and they said it was the same medication and same strength, just a different manufacturer.  Since its the only thing keeping her going, I'm scared to make any changes.

Can anyone confirm that prednisolone may be different colors?

Thanks in advance!

Just like with prescription pills that are generic, what it looks like is up to the manufacturer.  Unless you are using a brand name (which will be consistent in appearance), changes in appearance are nothing to worry about as long as you make sure the strength of your solution is noted to be the same.

My cat takes Prednisolone too. The first color was like clear or a little bit of light color and I had no problems giving it. The next time it was cherry and my cat refused. I couldn't give it to her for anything. Just ask for the color you like. I saw the difference on colors when I googled the name. Hope that helps.

My bottle was clear as well. It was flavored with tuna.  Was not called syrup, however.
