I have 2 cats, one super energetic,Tiggy and the other pretty normal, Moo I try my utmost to give them an hour of interactive play a day, and like most cats they have their preferences of toys.

Moo will always end up chewing up whatever toys he has an interest in, and will tear bits off, eat them, and in some cases eat the whole thing.

He also loves to play with these small pom-pom type balls, but again, if left alone, he will start chomping away. when he first got them, if unsattended he would swallow them and vomit them back up, so I have to keep a close eye in case he starts chewing and swallowing them..

During his last health check he was fine, but it is getting to the point where I cannot leave toys for them to play with unnattended.. he never chews cables or carpet etc.

Today he ate half a cloth toy duck and half a plastic "chew mouse" that was covered in fur.. He seems OK and is eating, now but I think I should take him for an X-Ray just to see if there are any other undigested "things" in his stomach..

Does anyone else have any similar experiences? Have you managed to prevent it or have found anything that is safe to chew and digest?

The more active cat, Tiggy is forever meowing to play, but I feel terrible I cannot let him play unnattended for fear of the other  eating whatever he has.

thanks.

Have you talked to the vet specifically about the problem with him eating toys? I am not sure but this may be a sign that something else is wrong.

If not and he checks out okay, I don't really see another option but to not leave toys out for him to play with. I know this will be sad for your other cat, but it is flat out dangerous (as you obviously do know!) for Moo to be eating these things :/

Good luck with the vet..  Hopefully others will chime in with advice too.

Thanks for your response, No, it is not something I have addressed with the vet so far, because I have managed to keep it under control with supervision, but will be brought up next time I visit. Right now they are playing hide and seek amongst themselves so there doesnt seem to be any problems with moo and what he ate.. luckily it was only a small piece this time at least..

Does he swallow everything he chews up? Mogli chews just about anything, and what has helped is giving him a new cardboard box to destroy every week or so. He makes an absolute mess, but it has stopped him from chewing shoes, toys,etc.. He doesn't swallow what he chews, though.

As long as he continues to eat, drink, and use the litterbox regularly I wouldn't worry about going to the vet for an xray. However if he ever goes off food or has potty issues that's will be a sign he needs to go to the vet asap.

It is odd that he does eat everything and I ask your vet about it. And maybe find some chew toys for him, maybe one of the compressed catnip toys too?
