Since yesterday my little sweet silver tabby boy has been puking. I thought for sure it was a hairball he just couldn't get up. But it just turned to heaving and liquid. Then last night after cleaning up last mess I realized from papertowel that it was pink? Then this morning saw another puddle of it. When I poured peroxide on it it festered up and foamed just like on an infected cut, so for sure it is blood. He still eats but is lethargic today. It can't be the food because my other two cats eat the same thing. They eat raw primal frozen. I can't tell vet that though because they will blame raw food. I can only imagine he chewed on something and it is stuck? He is only 3yrs and was in excellent health. Never puked before except for some catgrass which is expected. Is this an emergency? He ate his food this morning but drank lots of water which is unusual. Please any advice would be so appreciated.

If he  actually is vomiting blood then yes I would say it is an emergency . I really don't know any other advice to give .  Do you have an emergency vet in your area ? If not you could call your vet first thing and tell them you have an emergency ..I r hope your little guy is better soon . Keep us updated .

He is slow and finding more hidden spots to lay. He kept his food down and water but yesterday he kept food down for hours before it started. I have located an emergency vet but am waiting a bit to see and taking work off. My cats love playing with peacock feathers. I can only guess he got a hold of one and ate it. He is a chewer and I have found him chewing on even wood before. From litter I think he pooped today and it looked normal. I did give them a treat yesterday. It was primal chicken nibs. That was only thing different. I will update. Thankyou for the response.

Was it cooked chicken ribs? Cooked bones can splinter and get stuck in a cats throat or pierce the lining of the gut and cause internal bleeding. If he is still puking blood and acting lethargic then I'd get him to a vet. Something scratching the inside or his throat might make him cough up blood once, but as this has happened a couple of times it sounds like what ever caused the bleeding is still causing it.

Hope he's going to be OK.

No it was primal nibs which is small pieces of organic chicken, honey and salt. I thought it was freeze dried raw treats but when home realized it was more like a jerky. My other cats got some too and no problem. I gotta get an xray. I think he has an obstruction. We will see....

Well, $350 later and no answers yet. Xray showed nothing. They gave him fluids, anti nausea meds, and full panel blood work. Tomorrow the blood work will come back. The vet seemed opened minded so I mentioned I feed my cats a raw diet and I saw her face change.....I explained the other cats ate the same food and are fine. I also explained it is a commercial brand that uses a high pressure water treatment for sanitizing....on trial again for trying to give my animals the best food. So I will update tomorrow what they come up with. Hopefully an answer beyond the raw diet.

Well, all of Pocho blood work came back fine including the FIV Test (I was worried because Pocho drinks from my FIV cats water...). His second xray showed movement of something that they weren't sure of so they cleared possibility of blockage. He was fine today, ate his food and no puking. What was found was coccidia in his stool. I will be treating all three cats for this parasite with Albon. I thought this parasite was a kitten thing? None of my cats showed signs. Is Albon a good med? Any advice? Anything I need to know before I start them on ten days of this? I actually don't think his vomiting was related but am uneducated on these matters and have to trust the vet.
