Had a massive heart attack yesterday afternoon and is now on life support. :-(

My mum and aunt and uncle are going to make the decision later today as to whether to keep him on it or not.

Haven't slept well - had about 4 hours sleep in total and feel totally wiped out.

I am so sorry to hear about your Grandfather
That is the one decision in your life that is the most important and also the hardest to do. There comes a time when you have to ask yourself what your Grandfather would want. Would he want to be kept on machines in order to live or just let him go with diginity? I sit here and cry as I type this
it was a little over a month ago that we had to make the same decision for my Dad

Just let him know how very much you love him and be there until the end if it is God's will for your Grandpa to go. Believe me it will be one of the hardest things you will ever do but then you know that he will no longer be in pain or suffering. Even if he isn't awake he will know that you are there. Take care and know that you are not alone with this pain
If you need a shoulder to cry on feel free to PM me at any time as I know what you are going through

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you and your family

Hi guys

It has been one of the worst weekends of my life. :-(

My grandad is now comatose. His soul is not there at all. We are all going in to visit him at every visiting hour in the ICU but it is so very hard.

He is still on the ventilator and because there are still signs of brain activity, the doctors will not just switch it off.

The circulation to his feet has slowed down very badly and as he is diabetic the threat of gangrene is very large. It is now a matter of seeing what will happen first.

It seems as though he will be taken off the ventilator tomorrow and they have been given instructions not to resusciatate.

It is so awful. i love him so much and will miss him so much. I already miss him.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers and love.

Some sort of good news. He has started to come out of the coma. When we went there last night, when I spoke to him his heart rate went from 78 to 106. He is moving his head and trying to open his eyes.

I am very scared still though - too scared to hope.

Work has told me that I don't need to come in though - that I must spend all the time I need with him... How nice is that?
