i have a cat named mandy, she is 7 years old, she is neutered. my cat has pee'd on the ground, carpet, bath tub, she has been peeing alot of blood , the size of maybe a toonie. (canadian 2 dollar coin). i am very concerned and worried about my baby. i am going to take her to the vet on tuesday, but i wanted to see if anyone has any similar cases and or knows maybe what is wrong with her.

I agree, see if the vet will take you in tomorrow morning. If this is blood and not blood mixed with urine an emergency vet is needed ASAP.

I agree with both of your replies.  Mandy needs to be checked out immediately.  If one of mine was urinating and there was blood in it, I'd sit in the vet's office until they saw me.

My old cat has had about 6 episodes of cystitis. He always has. Very bloody urine, frequent urination and accidents. It resolves in about 48 hours with antibiotics.

The vet told me to give him phenoxybenzamine the last two times he had issues. It is supposed to relax the urethra so he doesn't develop a blockage. Only he got very sick off of it with vomiting.

The vet recommends he stay on a urinary cat food, preferably a prescription diet. He has had crystals as well. This last time he had an infection.

Your main goal is to make sure your cat is urinating and not blocked. As long as he produces urine you are okay. Frequent straining and dribbling small amounts is okay as long as he produces a normal amount of urine in 24 hours.

You want to make sure he doesn't block as that is very dangerous! My vet always sends my cat home under strict supervision. If I was working long hours I would probably leave him at the vet... strict supervision and confinement in the bathroom with a towel and litter box.

Get him in as soon as you can. You want to get a medication to help avoid a blockage.. you should get at least one x ray to check for bladder stones. You want a urinalysis to check for crystals and bacteria.

Good luck. If you can avoid blockage you should be okay, but a blockage can occur anytime in the next few weeks so keep a close eye on him.

I agree with all of the above posts. My cat has had urinary blockages, crystals & cystitis. Peeing blood is an emergency. It can be life threatening. Once a cat becomes complete blocked & no urine can come out, they can pass in 24h. I don't mean to sound alarming, but it really is an emergency. Please do take her to an emergency vet if available!
