I go got a 4-5 month old ferral kitten yesterday from a rescue. She's was one of 3 in a crate sneezing. I'm pretty sure she has an upper respiratory infection. She's weezing, sneezing out yellow and her eyes are watery and gooey se too. She hasn't ate or drank water. I put dry kitten Purina pro plan , friskies and then wet food that she only licks off the gravey. I've heard making her drink sugar watecan help? I can't get off of work to take her to a vet until Tuesday and she's separate from my adult cat. I've taken everything out of the bathroom and cleaned and sprayed Lysol to help kill germs. What should I do?

She needs a vet. Could be an upper respiratory infection, herpes, or a virus. The shelter should not have released a sick animal.

Better with you than in a cage at the rescue center. Good on you for taking her away from the rescue - she should never have been left in the cage with other kittens. Did they give you any antibiotics for her?

With a gunked up nose she cannot smell her food so doesn't eat.

Get a couple of jars of Gerber baby food - chicken, with no onion or anything. Offer some on a spoon. If she eats, good, offer some more. Cats usually love this.

Get a couple of cans of Fancy Feast Classic - Tender Beef Feast with the brown label, Turkey and Giblets with the olive green label. Put about 1/2 of a can (they're only 3 ounces) in her feeding dish. Heat up a little water and add a spoonful or two to the food, mushing it all together so its soupy. This will also make the food smellier so could attract her attention. Also helps to get some water into her.

Run the shower in the bathroom good and hot and steamy, to help loosen her congestion.

Call your veterinarian tomorrow, explain what's going on and that you cannot bring her in until Tuesday - do they have any other suggestions.

Wash your hands really good when you leave the bathroom so you don't carry any germs to your other cat. Shoe covers- or change your shoes - might be good too.

Hope she feels better soon. Do report back on how things are going.

If you are sure she isn't drinking she needs a vet pronto. Meanwhile try and dropper feed her water, and under no conditions allow the kitten to be around other cats Til you know for sure. You might want even to put on clean socks and throw them into a bag every time you enter ir exit bathroom.

Also don't use Lysol around any cat. The fumes can be toxic.

Most vets will let you drop off urgent cases in the morning without appointments. You may just want to tell the vet your issue its really important to get her in. All the advice you have thus far is great. I would in addition take a qtip and clean the crustees from her nose you will be surprised what you can pull out that's attached to it. After you take her into the bathroom with the shower watch for her to start to sneeze if so you have done it long enough. Hopefully the immediate problem is she just can't smell her food. You can also use a cool air humidifier or a hot one as long as you do not put any Vicks in it.

I have a humidifier in there, we kept it on all day. I took out everything under the sink and made her a hide out with a blanket in there since she's pretty wild... But that's why we took her, she would never have been adopted, she would go crazy when trying to hold her at first. . I've kept her face clean. I tried chicken baby food but she didn't want anything to do with it. Can I use a dropper and give her pedialyte?

And no, they didn't give me anything. I mentioned to two different people that her and her sister were sneezing yellow. One just reminded me I agreed to a followup vet check by the end of the month and the other wiped the sisters off for me. It was a no kill rescue ran by old people so they're just trying to get the kittens homes and hope somebody can provide .
