My girl Venus has kittens that will be 6 weeks old on Thursday. There haven't been any serious problems until now.

I was just feeling her mammary glands and I noticed that her lower right gland is severely swollen and hard. It feels lumpy and there is no milk coming out of it.

I'm very concerned and I want to know if this is serious and if I need to take her to the vet. Any help would be great. Please and thank you!!!

Yes, she needs to get to the vet, especially since you said it was swollen and nothing is coming out of it.

Yeah, she does need to see a vet. ;) it sounds like she might just be starting to get mastitis.
She will need antibiotics to clear up the infection if it is mastitis

Try applying a warm compress if she will let you - it will help her feel more comfortable

Here's a link to an article on mastitis below.

The vet offices near me are closed today. I'm going to make her comfy and use a warm compress on her. If nothing changes by tomorrow morning I'm taking her to the vet.

I looked up symptoms and signs for mastitis and she doesn't have any of that.

I took her to the vet and all they did was check her over and give me some antibiotics for her. They said it wasn't infected, but still wanted to be sure she would get better.

I've been giving her antibiotics for a couple days now and already the swelling has gone away. She still has a few more days of doses left though and she doesn't like taking medicine. Somehow I keep getting her to take it without getting scratched.
