So what are your favorite probiotics, why, what dosage/frequency do you use it and from where do you purchase them?

I am currently using Nutramax Provobial DC and it works great but I have seen conversations a bout people using human grade probiotics so I'm interested in hearing more.

I have also briefly used FortiFlora but did not like the ingredients and the cats didn't really care for it.

Many thanks!!

I use the one for my IBD cat at the moment. Nexabiotic and have also used this one Natural Factor's 1/2 capsule AM/PM is what I give my cats of either of the two that I listed. Make sure you mention to your vet about the probiotic's although I see you are using one already!

Fortiflora - yeah - I have not used this as a probiotic but have used it to lightly dust over a food to get a very picky cat to eat!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I rotate between the Nexabiotic, the Natural Factors double-strength acidophilus+bifidus, and Renew Life Ultimate Flora (15 billion CFU). I like the Nexabiotic because it contains S boulardii. I like the simplicity of the acidophilus/rhamnosus/bifidobacterium in the Natural Factors, and my cats like the Renew Life. :lol3:

Here's discussion with links to info on use of probiotics (including human probiotics and doses) in pets: http://www.ibdkitties.net/Probiotics.html

Yeah, the vet is aware of the probiotics.  When I told him that I was giving the cat Nexus Provobial DC, he said, "oh, yeah, good" though he never thought to prescribe that or any other probiotic.

I know for IBD in particular how beneficial they are.  Thanks to everyone for your responses....it is very much appreciated.

I tied giving my kitty with IBD a probiotic and she won't touch the wet food with this in it. I even tried giving it to my feral cats and they act like I'm trying to kill them. The one I was using was the Natural Factors double strength. I don't know which other one to try that I can purchase in a store. I'm not able to order online.
