Spaghetti Alfredo with tons of mushrooms fried in tons of butter, lots of cream and yellow cheese. Yummy.

The sirloin steak I bought yesterday was spoiled. Store will refund me. So for me and hubby it's bacon, egg and cheese on a English muffin. Oldest had sandwhich with rice pilaf and farm tomatoes. Baby had scrambled eggs, spagetti and cukes.

I got the new issue of Cook's Illustrated on Friday and there's a recipe for grilled country-style ribs. Well, I had some country-style ribs in the freezer, so I took them out yesterday and tossed them in the fridge to thaw. I put the dry spice rub on the ribs this morning. And so we are having grilled country-style ribs for dinner tonight.

They also have a very good Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce that I'll make later on this morning and use for the ribs.

It's too hot to cook. :( I made goulash in the crock pot yesterday, with plenty left over for dinner today. The microwave is getting lots of use in this heat wave.

What spices?
The dry spice rub was basically brown sugar, chili powder, kosher salt, and cayenne pepper. I put it on all sides of the ribs in the morning and let them sit in the fridge, covered with plastic wrap, all day. Then grilled them. After a bit on the grill, I slathered them with the BBQ sauce until they were done. We had extra BBQ sauce for serving with the ribs. There were two left with a wee bit of extra sauce and Rick had them for his lunch on Monday.

They were really good.
I have to say that I don't, as a rule, grill country ribs without pre-cooking them first, either in the microwave or in the oven for a while. I always thought they needed a long and slow process. They don't. I think they were done in about 15 minutes or so. Basically, I treated them as pork chops.

Tonight we have a nice ham slice for the grill. Probably with some green beans as a side. And some sliced tomatoes. (And I'm sure there's a zucchini up in the garden somewhere that I could pick and prepare, too.)

Last night we had chicken breast, green beans, and the BF made a balsamic reduction sauce for it. Was pretty good. Have it for lunch today also.

Tonight is going to be egg-white omelettes with peppers and onions.

I think I will try getting some mac and cheese into me tonight.. It is difficult with the bandage on my face,..The bandage goes from the corner of the nose and under, to the side of my nose and down along the cheek crease to the level of the corner of my mouth.(stitches)..... Eating and drinking is very challenging...

I have to sneak things in!!
........but this is only temporary.. stitches will be removed on friday...

@Artiemom -- i hope your healing goes smoothly, and the stitches are removed on time.
...for healing well and quickly.
Thank you!

Yes, it seems to be going well.. I just have a large bandage on my face. It is in a spot where it is difficult to keep a bandage, so I use lots of tape!

I am just siting around on my butt this week. Kind of bored, but taking it very easy.

I got a green bruise under my eye, my upper lip was 3 time the normal size, along with the upper lip being bruised. Hard to keep a bandage under the nose, side corner of nose, along the cheek fold, to just above the corner of my mouth. Today I can open my mouth a lot better. I have been using straws to drink.

Hard to keep tape under your nose and not on you lip or covering nostril competely.. I cannot use the real strong tape because it makes my skin red...

so I am avoiding housework and even going out!

My neighbors see me getting the mail and there are a ton of questions. I probably have the bandage larger than what is needed, but it covers and stays for the day. Have to wash and re-dress it twice a day...

Stitches out on Friday!!! I counted 25 tiny superficial ones and I have many small deep one which will dissolve.
