The latest hummus recall gave me a pause. I passed on buying some at the grocery store yesterday. Time to start making my own again.

I had half of a low carb bagel with some egg beaters.

I've never had hummus and I keep thinking I should try to make some. I love chickpeas/garbanzo beans, so I think I would like hummus. But I don't know that I'd buy it; I'd probably try to make it.

The last thing I ate was a dish of chocolate marshmallow ice cream last night. Just finished my morning coffee a few minutes ago.

If you like chick peas you will love hummus. Try a store bought version before you make your own. That way you will know what consistency you'll need it to be. I have bought it and made it and buying it helped when I made it. If you have a store near you that sells Boar's Head products, they make a very good one. Sabra does as well but I like the BH one a little better. Sabra has a large variety of flavors to choose from. I love the roasted garlic one and the supremely spicy.

The most delicious apple I've ever had. We got our first garden fresh box yesterday and there were apples in it. It's a program here where you buy either a small or large box and it's filled with local produce. We got a ton of stuff for $17 buying the large box.

i love hummus, and i make my own. the great thing about hummus is that the amounts of and even some of the ingredients depend on your individual taste, what you like. i started by using a basic hummus recipe, then each new batch was adjusted a little here and there to suit my taste. for example, i do like lemon juice in my hummus but i don't like the lemon flavor to be too strong/dominant. part of the reason i like hummus is that it's a relatively healthy thing to eat (along with some wedges of pita, or even some mini pretzels) as a snack.

just nibbling on this and that (ie, mini pretzels, slices of cheese from a chunk so far) until my sweet'n'sour pork finishes cooking in the slow cooker.

I put lemon juice in mine too but just a touch. I also add roasted garlic and a touch of sesame oil. it adds a little toasted nuttiness that takes it past what it gets from the tahini. I take the skins off the beans. I find it comes out creamier. It's a pain but worth it.

Just a drop or 2 depending on how much you're making. It goes a long way. DD loves it. I'll have to make some for her. She'll be home for the summer in less than 3 weeks. I use organic garbanzos since I found that they have less sodium than the low sodium ones do.

How strange. Sara is a Hebrew word. Israel born Israelis are called sabras. We don't have that make here.

2 applegate uncured beef hot dogs, 1/4 cup boiled broccoli, 1 slice 2% cheddar cheese melted over all.  1 oz. half and half with my coffee.  One of my unconventional breakfasts :)
