Three kabanosy dipped into tehina.
(It's a long thin pork, or in my case turkey, spicy sausage originating from Poland.
Quite tasty.
I always thought kabonosy were dried kielbasa. Kind of like a Polish 'slim jim'...  really good with mustard or horseradish..

I Google kabanos to see what language it was as that's what it's called here. It may be called something else where you are. Google it. I'm interested.

I am just going by what I grew up with and what the people at the Polish Store told me. The Kielbasa I get does have pork, spices in it. They are the dried version of a kielbasa. Good to eat in the hand for a snack.

Reminds me that I have some in the freezer, from my Christmas trip to the store!!

Ok. I just Google it. It's not quite the same. Yours is polish/ukranian made out of pork and spices. Mine days polish made out of pork or kosher turkey and spices and is thinner than yours by the picture they show. However, I would imagine they taste the same. I dipped mine into tahina.
Enjoy what you've got in the freezer. What will you eat with it?

Yeah it was. He's not nursing anymore (his choice not mine) so I can eat it again.

Last thing I had was dinner. ..a chicken sandwich.
i was just looking at a sales circular yesterday and noticed that hams were on sale for Easter. i didn't see turkeys on sale. it's really too bad, for a good low price per pound i'd have bought another turkey and popped it in my freezer with the second one i had bought around thanksgiving.

if you have the freezer space, it might be worth buying an extra turkey around thanksgiving or christmas and freezing it to roast later in the winter. i know that here in my area we have tops and wegmans grocery stores. every year these two stores have 'turkey wars', trying to beat the others low price. last year the price settled at 49 cents/lb for whole turkeys. for that price i'll buy two or three of them and freeze them, and use them instead of buying chicken for pretty much the whole next year. i just roast one as needed, then freeze the turkey in portions to use in soups, casseroles, turkey enchiladas, etc. i use the carcass to make turkey stock too. i got 19 cups of turkey out of my 15 point something pound turkey the other day -- i freeze in one cup portions, easy to grab exactly what i need for recipes.

the roasting turkey nearly drove me nuts towards the end of it's bake time, it smelled so good.

I did buy a turkey after Christmas but we didn't have the freezer space so I ended up giving it to a friend. If I see them on sale for Easter, I will buy one. At Christmas, they were .77 cents a pound here. My mother in law always makes a turkey and a ham for Easter, thanksgiving and Christmas.

awww...that's too bad. one thing i have plenty of is freezer space. but then, i've been grocery shopping only once every two months for 3 1/2 years so i've needed the freezer space to freeze as much as possible. starting this month, i'll be shopping once a month. for me, this is very good and very exciting! i'll be able to buy fresh salad fixins, and they should last a week or longer. i haven't made a fresh tossed salad at home in well over 4 years.

i'm glad you'll be able to enjoy turkey at Easter. coming up in just one week!

i had some crunchy peanut butter about an hour or so ago.

I grocery shop weekly with trips in between. We now have a small chest freezer so I have been stocking up on some stuff.

Yes, I am of Polish descent. I started eating kabonsy as a snack... just something to much on...I suppose you could have it with mustard a really good slice of rye bread--yum! or with horseradish and a slice of light rye!  yum!

enjoy yours! of course, I never heard of a turkey one, but it must be good!! enjoy!!

They won't. Make it pork in this country. Not kosher.
My grandparents came from Russia to England before the revolution.

I'm eating a bowl of Lucky Charms now.  It's suppose to be my DD's "Saturday Cereal."  She won't mind; she hasn't been asking for it anyway.

Our church had a big pot-luck dinner today so we had a heavy late lunch.  So so so good!  But all I could eat earlier at dinner time was a small salad.  It's caught up with me now but I still want something light   Plus it's late.  So cereal it is!

It was a cool weekend so I made chili. We had it last night for supper.

I've just had coffee this morning, but getting ready for a snack.
