mickNsnicks2mom, you're going to love having two monitors. I have two at work and it's made my computer life so much easier. No more having to resize screens when I have a ton of open programs to work on a project. It's the best thing ever for me.
for the time being, i'll have the two monitors in separate rooms. but i did want to be able to run two monitors at the same time -- should i decide to move them to the same room/desk, or simply switch rooms i'm in throughout the course of one day.

also, the next time i've got the electrician coming out here to do work i'll have him install four outlet 'banks', each with 8-12 grounded/3-prong outlet plugs in them. right now i've got surge protector power strips plugged into plug converters (3-prong to 2-prong) and into the outlet. i've never had a problem with that, but really not good so i'll have that situation corrected. i'll have to bring this old 1880's house into the modern times, for computer and electronics needs.

today we'll be having a very quiet day, as tomorrow and monday i'm going into overdrive mode with firewood stacking -- it's forecast to rain from tuesday through friday, and my goal is to not completely lose that time by having two busy days back to back prior to the rainy days. i've got the next (and last) load of firewood being delivered in 11 days. so for today --
  • made snick and jaspurr's breakfast, then made my breakfast
  • will make the cats a snack in just a few, then make my lunch
  • wash the dishes, scoop litter boxes, take out the trash, and bring in the newspapers
  • will run the washing machine later this afternoon/evening
  • write up my 'to do' list for tomorrow
  • will post tomorrow's question of the day just after midnight tonight, because it's quite possible i won't 'have it in me' to do much of anything tomorrow evening

Went to the hairdresser for a colour and my bangs needed trimming.
Went to a clothes shop and i
Bought 2 tops and paid for one. A birthday present of 50% from the shop.
Went to the drugstore and bought materna for my baby granddaughter. Shampoo and a brush for me.
Went to a soap shop and got as a birthday present a little set of hand scrub and hand cream.
I have a gift waiting for me at a jewellery shop.
My birthday is on the 18th of this month. Oh I also got a 25% discount for my hair. Same reason.
Took me out to eat but wasn't feeling too well so I brought my supper home with me all nicely packed up.
  • Errands: Banking, some things for Rick's mother, Target, etc. Rick needs extra meds to get him through his trip, so we need to talk to the pharmacist.
  • I have to get the screen to my cell phone repaired. I dropped it the other day and the screen cracked. First time I have ever dropped a cell phone. I have no idea what it involves or how to deal with it.
  • Other than that, it's just standard stuff: a bit of cleaning throughout the house, scooping, etc.

Don't you have your phone in a special cover to take care of it. I do. I have dropped it and thanks to the cover it's sitting in I have no worries.

I didn't come in on Thursday.
Went to Tel Aviv to see my sister.
We went out for lunch.
My son dropped in to say hello.
Reasonable meal
Went to the book shop. I had a coupon for 35% off a book. I took two books. Went to the drugstore. Got nappies, baby food, two lipsticks, one I've already got. I'll change it next week.
Went back to my sister. After an hour or so I called my taxi and went home.
All to be repeated. On Wednesday.

I do not. I haven't seen a case yet that I like. But I guess if I'm going to start dropping my phone, I'd better get the thing in something.

But it wasn't the screen.....it was the protective film across the screen that cracked; the screen itself is fine. So I lucked out there. $20 for a new protective screen and life goes on.
  • Planning on working a bit in the garden
  • Need to mow the weeds in the yard (at this point, they're the only things growing!)

Prices of things are ridiculous nowadays aren't they?

It was kind of a shatterproof protective screen; that's why it was more expensive. I was glad to pay it as it was a lot cheaper than replacing the screen itself.

You got very lucky. What kind of phone do you have? Amazon is my go to for those things and they have HUGE selection for pretty much any phone

This is a good one. Good reviews from a lot of people. It comes in other colors that are not Prime eligible. It's "pretty" per se but it does it's job very well. I had a similar one for my last phone and the phone survived many drops without a scratch

  • Going to find my MIL today during lunch. She will either still be in hospital or moved over to the nursing home.
  • Grocery night
  • You know, with everything else going on around here, I completely forgot about making Dear Richard's snickerdoodles! I thought about them this morning while I was in the shower. I will make the dough for his cookies tonight and then bake the cookies on Tuesday night. He can't go to Vegas without his 'doodles.

after an extremely hot day of stacking much firewood, trimming down a garden bed, and assorted household chores, we're having a nice quiet day out of the heat today -- supposed to get to 90 degrees here, and the sun is just beating down.
  • gave snick and jaspurr their breakfast, then made my breakfast
  • no dish washing today, as i only have a couple pieces of silverware and three dishes so far. but will scoop litter boxes and take out the trash
  • will do a little more fine tuning of upcoming home improvement plans -- i always enjoy doing that
  • will see if i'm up to (ie, not too overtired) to do some reading, and/or watch some tv later today

If I get nothing else done tonight, I need to bake those cookies. I don't want to; it's way, way too hot right now and the thought of heating up the kitchen doesn't appeal at all.

  • Visit with Rick's mother tonight. She asked for some snickerdoodles, so we can take those with us. She loves snickerdoodles almost as much as her son does.
  • Trash night, so must clean out the litter boxes, fridge, etc.
  • A couple loads of laundry. And I need to sew a button on a pair of Rick's shorts.

i woke up to the same sounds i've heard most mornings this summer -- the road work crew running heavy equipment at six thirty-something this morning. tempers are very short in my neighborhood this summer because of this too.

but i got some things done today, and i'm thinking i'll go to bed very early tonight.
  • gave snick and jaspurr their breakfast, then made my breakfast
  • got everything ready, then took the local 'rinky-dink' bus over to the branch of my bank which had the shortest total trip time -- took me an hour and a half total, and i was very lucky to catch the bus back. the bus system out here is extremely limited. there was a 23 minute 'window' between buses, which i had available to get my banking done quickly. if i'd missed that bus back, it would be literally 7 hours later that the next bus would be by
  • post office, mailed a letter
  • washed the dishes, scooped the litter boxes, took out the trash
  • took a shower

Why do you leave the dishes if there's only a few things to wash.

My daughter gave me a surprise and came over.
She'd bought me a little birthday gift which I most definitely haven't seen him for some time thank you.
She took me to my drugstore in my mall.
Then I took her out for dinner.
A very pleasant evening was had by all.

while normally having just a few dishes to wash is a pretty happy day for me as far as dishes go, this summer has been 'eventful' for me as well as having enough extremely busy periods of time that some days i try to reduce the things i have to do in just about any way possible. by doing that, i have just that little bit more of the calm and relaxing time that day that i've been so short on this summer.
