Went to the supermarket today instead of Thursday when it will be a mad house.
Went to the superpharm and bought materna baby food for my granddaughter.
Came home and read the newspaper. So depressing!

Stewball, I just adore that show! Call the Midwife! It is so well written. I know it is adapted from a biography. The season it is in right now is well past the book. They add additional characters without making it into a soap opera. Watching the program, the hour goes by so fast. I anxiously wait for the beginning of the new season; feeling sad when it is completed......

  • Trash night, clean out the litter boxes
  • Three loads of laundry piles are on the hallway floor, waiting for me to come from work
  • A quick vacuum about the house, nothing fancy
We may clip Molli's claws tonight instead of waiting til the weekend (we always clip and clean ears the first weekend of the month). I noticed last night when she was kneading my arm that the claws are quite long.

Rick is bowling early tonight, so while he's gone, I need to do some computer stuff (working on formatting for a new personal cookbook).

And that will probably be all I get done tonight.

The good news is that Rick and I both have off work tomorrow for the Good Friday holiday!

We've just finished the second season. I wonder when it'll come again, if it'll come again. Impossible to know with my cable cfightompany. What's amazing is that the girls never fight.
It's a bit too good to be true but BBC puts out wonderful stuff.

Went to the hairdresser for a colour. Did something very stupid. I didn't really check the colour. I presumed it was the same colour as always. I didn't even check when I got home but when I brushed it out OMG it's dark brown instead of dark blonde. I only have the roots done as I have streaks so to me it looks weird dark brown on top and blonde the rest of it. A phone call will be made to the hairdresser tomorrow.
Then I went to the mall. I went into a clothes store that was srll

The I went to the bookshop and bought two books and then I took me out to eat.

Rick has a dr appt for blood work. It will take him hours at the hospital, so while he's gone:
  • I want to clean the house a bit to prepare for Sunday dinner with the family (it doesn't have to be perfect as my family doesn't really care, but a good vacuuming, dusting, cleaning the bathroom, you know the drill)
  • Making the frozen peanut butter pie, the pickled eggs, and the 3-grain pan rolls for Sunday. When I ordered the coconut cake for dessert, I gave up on the lemon meringue pie, and Rick decided he wanted peanut butter pie instead. Peanut butter pie is easier....I can make it now and throw it in the freezer.
  • Go to the market for the produce and dairy I'll need for Sunday's dinner

Phoned the hairdresser. Having the colour seen to on Wednesday. Going to be a long day!
Went to my daughter for the eve of the passover.
Came home. Glad that's over for another year.

Didn't get much done. I had awakened with half a headache and as the morning went on, the headache got worse. I ended up between the bed and the couch for most of the day, although I did get the peanut butter pie done and the pickled eggs. And the shopping. But that was as far as it got. Headache is still here this morning, but not as bad. Hopefully, I'll get more done today.
  • Today is recycling day, so we need to get all the recyclables down to the center. We also must hit the bank and run a few errands. I need a centerpiece for our table on Sunday....after dinner we always give the centerpiece to Rick's mother so she can enjoy it at home. (That way the cats won't get into it; we'll keep it in the basement til dinner tomorrow)
  • Rick said he'd vacuum for me and clean the bathroom, so all I really have to do is dust and clean the kitchen a bit (I'll scoop, too). I'd like to change the bed linens today, too, since I won't get it done tomorrow.
  • Other than that, it's a matter of making the yeast rolls and the chocolate caramel supreme pie today
In between things, I'd like to watch some of the Salem episodes throughout today. And Outlander comes back tonight! I've been going through serious Outlander withdrawal since the first half of the season finished last September.

Still have this headache, but it's down to a low roar right now, so it's not too bad. Back to work today after our three-day weekend.
  • Going for a few groceries tonight after work. But I haven't even looked at the grocery flyer yet, so will have to do that today. I know we don't need much, but Rick's mom gave us her list yesterday.
  • Other than scooping, that's pretty much it. Unless Rick thinks of something for me to do (that happens)

Winchester Winchester Sending lots of wishes for your headache to get gone. I want to know how to make pickled eggs. I have too many home laid eggs given to us by a person at church and need to use up some of them. :lol3:

Barbara, thank you. The headache goes down to a dull roar, then flares back up again.

Are you talking about pickled eggs with red beets; that's the one that we use? When I get home, I will post my recipe for Pickled Eggs for you, if that's OK. It was given to me by a neighbor and we really like it. I thought I knew it by heart, but when I started thinking about the amount of sugar, my brain fogged and I can't remember.
Best for me to check the recipe and will do so tonight for you. (We love pickled eggs, but I only make them twice a year....once for Easter dinner and then once mid-summer for a family picnic.)

Recipe for Pickled Eggs. Recipe can also be found here:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/254597/this-and-that-miscellaneous-recipes#post_3721535

PICKLED EGGS

1 can sliced beets

½ to 1 onion, sliced thinly

1 bay leaf, crumbled

½ can vinegar

1 cup sugar (to taste for sweet and sour)

Hard-boiled eggs (8 eggs)

Bring all ingredients to a boil. Layer desired amount of shelled hard-boiled eggs in a jar. Pour some of the beet mixture over the eggs. Add another layer of eggs and repeat with beet mixture until mixture is all.

...with the cats...
among the things i did today was to kill my electric chainsaw (forgot that the gas needs an additive, so the motor started smoking) -- definitely a 'duh...' moment for me. bought a new gas chainsaw (has just a 14 inch blade). and trimmed down what felt like a boat load of too long and/or too thick pieces of firewood.
