Hi Judy! :wavey:  I'm fine! Doctor took me right away yesterday. Blood pressure was good and she was able to clean out my ears. That right ear is still painful but I'm hoping it goes away now that the ear is cleaned. My problem is my ear buds go into my ears (I listen to music when I walk) and that pushes all the wax down inside. So I go into the doctor about every six months or so and get them cleaned out. Better for her to clean them out than me. But other than that, I'm doing well. My doctor even told me yesterday that I looked good! That I looked healthy.
said, I'm not going to say anything about your weight, because I know you'll get it back off. But you are looking well and, whatever you're doing, keep doing it! You really look good!" And that made me feel good.

Work is hectic, but it always is. On the whole, life is pretty good right now. Thanks for asking. :hugs:

  • Rick and I need to get to the Prothonotary's office this afternoon to see what all we need for our passports. I know that our birth certificates have to have a raised seal and mine does. Rick may have some issues with his as I don't think the seal on his is raised. We're going to Canada in September and, in order to get back into the States, we need to have either passports or passcards. Rick said we'll just get passports because he's still hoping he can get me to Ireland someday.  (It's that flying thing, you know. I don't fly. But man, I'd really love to go to Ireland. Scotland, too.)
  • I have a couple loads of laundry and I might just do them tonight instead of tomorrow night
  • Need to work on some stuff for Rick.
[/quote

I'm glad to hear all is well and that your doctor is pleased with you.
I loke flying. I spent almost a day before reaching Thailand, Vietnam and Japan.
Subsidised holidays arranged by our works union. They were opportunities of a lifetime. Of course now that I don't work trips l

I need to do my mammogram, too. Just got the reminder postcard in the mail. Hope everything goes OK for yours.
  • Rick is taking our stuff in this afternoon after work to get our taxes done. Hoping for a refund.
  • Must do the laundry tonight. I got busy with working on stuff for Rick last night and didn't do any
  • Trash night, so clean out the litterboxes

Rick brought me into work this morning because we have to run errands today right after work. It's easier to come to work together because then he doesn't have to wait for me to come home before we can start our errands.
  • Our taxes were done last night (we're actually getting a refund
) and I had to sign the papers this morning; we'll turn them in today. We also have to mail out our state and local taxes as we owe money for them. We also have to do some banking and a bit of grocery shopping. Rick is bowling late tonight.
  • A bit of vacuuming tonight, nothing big, just around the kitchen and living room
  • I think The Vampire Diaries are new tonight
And that will probably be it for us

That's a very good breakfast. Still using that wretched margarine?
Doesn't the juice curdle the milk in your stomach?
Can't get blueberries here. Or blackberries or raspberries. We get strawberries but the price is exorbitant.
thank you! i try to eat well. yes, still using margarine. for me the bottom line is that it's inexpensive, and i've always got goals requiring that i save money to complete them. so although margarine is "wretched", it helps me cut costs and contributes to making it easier for me to meet my goals.

i never thought about the milk and the juice, how it might settle in my stomach. i drink my juice first, then eat my two fried eggs and toast, then drink my milk -- every morning the same way. so maybe the eggs and toast prevent the juice and milk mixing and curdling...?

i'm very fortunate that all those berries are grown locally where i live. but can you get figs, dried figs there? i don't find them easily in the stores here, but i love them.

We get fresh figs and dried at least i think we get fresh. I'm not a great fan so I don't look for them but I love berries. Oh well. What season are berries ripe?

Doesn't the acid in our stomachs curdle the milk even without orange juice?

If you look online there are recipes for making your own soft spread - take a stick of butter and soften it at room temperature, then add - depending on recipe - anywhere from 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup or more of oil. Suggestions vary from light olive oil (EVOO is too strongly flavored) or grape seed oil or a blend of oils or whatever the various suggestions happen to be. Combine well, refrigerate at least overnight, then enjoy. Can add a little salt, even some herbs, black pepper, whatever.

there are different varieties of berries, and some of the different varieties become ripe/are ready to harvest in the spring, in the summer, and in the fall. so it depends on which variety(-ies) of berries are available in your area here when they'll be ripe.

i know that in my immediate area, we get early strawberries, blueberries that ripen in the summer, and raspberries and blackberries that are all three (ripe in the spring, in the summer, and in the fall).

i know that there are varieties of strawberry and raspberry plants that are "everbearing". these everbearing plants bloom and then develop fruit more than once each growing season, their fruit ripens then they bloom again shortly and develop more berries which then start to ripen, and that continues until the temps get too cool. there is a trade off with the everbearing plants though, that since they put so much of their energy into growing fruit they don't put out as many "runners". runners are new growth. they're the plant sending out almost like a tender green vine looking thing that runs along the ground away from the plant. these runners, if properly cared for, will be new berry plants the next growing season.

Rick is leaving tomorrow, so we have stuff to do tonight. He's leaving work today at noon. I am working over lunch today and then leaving at 3:00.
  • Finish off some wash that he can take with him
  • I need to go to Staples tonight and run some errands
  • He has to get up around 2:00 in the morning to drive to the airport, so we're hoping for an early night

You don't know how lucky you are.
We only get strawberries in the winter month and some cherries.
That's your lot.
How are you?

that there's so much locally grown fruits and vegetables is one of the things that i love about where i live. i'm doing well. i'm getting ready for spring here, planning on planting some more flower seeds to fill out some areas of my flower gardens and waiting for the weather to get warmer so i can start weeding my flower garden beds. as always, i've got projects i'm working on -- some short term and others long term.

today i didn't have much to do --
  • called the new bank and got the info i needed so i'm ready to move my banking there next month
  • gave snick her sub-q's
  • moved more firewood to my living room log rack, dumped the wood stove ash pan, and did a quick vacuum around the first floor
  • gave snick and jasper their breakfasts, then made mine -- juice, two fried eggs, a bowl of farina (cream of wheat) with brown sugar and milk mixed into it
  • washed the dishes, scooped litter boxes, took out the trash, and brought in the newspaper

Quite a busy day. Or morning?
Now let me see if I can remember what I did? Mmmmm nothing?

Rick left around 2:00 or so this morning and my day has been messed up ever since. Right after he left, I couldn't fall back asleep, so I stayed up until around 8:00 or so this morning, then crashed. Awakened around 10:30 or so and did a few things around the house. Crashed again and never awakened until after 2:00 this afternoon! So now I'm full of pep and energy and am doing some general straightening-up around the house. Tomorrow will be my house-cleaning day.
  • Installed Outlook 2013 on my computer this morning. It downloaded and installed very well with no issues at all. (I had been using Windows Live Mail, which had turned into a total pain to use. Every time I tried to use it, I'd get an error notice because some header didn't download all the way. It was dropping emails right and left....I got tired of dealing with it.) I'm already using Office 2013, so I figured I might as well use Outlook, too, and get it over with.
  • Downloaded the paperwork to get another copy of my birth certificate for my passport. The prothonotary's office won't take my birth certificate because it's not a proper certificate as it came from the marine base, something like that. Well, that certificate is 60 years old, for crying out loud and it says right on it that it's legal for obtaining a passport. They won't take Rick's birth certificate either because the seal isn't raised. Rick can go to our local representative's office and have him take care of his for us, but I have to go through North Carolina for mine. What a hassle. And I'm going to have to pay for "expedited processing and expedited shipping" which is an extra fee.
  • Just doing some straightening-up, looking through my desk, shredding papers, doing some organizing, all that good stuff

What on earth is a stick of butter? Ours comes weighing 200 grammes. I don't even know know how to measure a cup of butter. I hate American weights and measures. If it's in lbs and ozs I can work it out into grammes and kilos but sticks? Please help.
