today will be a nice quiet day, thankfully.

  • dump the wood stove ash pan, then add more wood to the wood stove
  • give snick and jasper their breakfasts, then make mine
  • wash the dishes, scoop the litter boxes, take the trash out, and (hopefully) bring in the newspapers -- no newspaper on the heavy snow day, so i should have two papers to bring in this morning
  • write up my "to do" list for tomorrows busy day
Sorry. No newspaper to bring in the day before. Did you get two?

Went to Tel Aviv to meet my aged uncle and cousin.
We went out to eat.
Then I came home, was ignored by my boys, watched some TV and when I switched it off they suddenly realised that mummy was home and came schmoozing for their tin of wet food.

Rick is bowling late tonight, so we don't have to rush around with dinner.
  • Scoop the boxes
  • A quick vacuum about the living room and kitchen
  • We need some clip art stickers printed out here at work. We're using an Avery product and, no matter how much we try to get that clip art aligned on the sticker, we're just too far off. And we've tried Word, Illustrator, etc. I tried the Planning laser printer, our little Photosmart printer at work. Nothing is working. I even tried Avery's online software. And nothing. So I took everything home yesterday, threw them into my old WordPerfect on the Vista computer (yes.... WordPerfect) and tried Rick's printer, the old DeskJet 1220C. Voila! A perfect match! I need to print 100 pages of stickers 24 to a page, but thankfully don't have to do them all at one time. Need them by Feb 25, so I can do a some tonight and some later on. (There are times when that old WordPerfect just rocks.)

you forgot to bring in the newspaper.
we were having a snow storm that day, heavy blowing snow. on days that the weather is like that, the newspaper sometimes doesn't get delivered until the next day -- which is what happened this time. the newspaper is delivered in the mid to late afternoon, so it wouldn't be out there yet anyway. actually, most of the time the newspaper i bring in in the morning is yesterday's newspaper that was delivered in the afternoon the day before.

i can go online to the newspaper website to read it. a big part of the reason i have a real paper newspaper delivered is for use in my wood stove.

Run a few errands tonight, basically to Lowes and to PetSmart for cat food and litter (and then am hoping we don't have to go for groceries at all come Monday. We'll see how that goes.)

Scoop the boxes

I'm calling it an early night tonight and hope to be in bed (and hopefully sound asleep) by 9. Sounds silly for a Friday night, but that's the way it is.

oh Canada~
- Took Tweety to the vet. I asked the vet to write another script for me and I don't think she was familiar with the process (she graduated very recently and took the place of our regular vet who's on mat leave, and she wrote the original script), so I'll have to ask the pharmacist that fills our medication next week if she contacted them to extend our prescription...

- Cleaned the bird cages.

- Cleaned the entire apartment top to bottom, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and wiping. This is the first time it has looked presentable since New Years Eve.
But man, is it satisfying!

Wanted to do homework and had a bunch of time during the evening, but my right wrist is starting to hurt like crazy. Guess it'll be a night with the wrist brace.

it's very late, almost tomorrow...but still today.
  • dumped the wood stove ash pan, then added more firewood to the stove
  • gave snick her sub-q's and set up the next bag of fluids (to start on in a couple days), then made snick and jasper their breakfasts, then made my breakfast
  • moved more firewood to the living room log rack
  • washed the dishes, scooped jasper's litter box and completely changed the litter in snick's favorite litter box
  • took the trash out and shoveled (about an inch of snow) off the driveway
  • cranked up the temp in my living room/house (with the wood stove), so while i was out shopping the house would stay comfortably warm for longer -- i did turn on the furnace, set at 64 degrees F, but it didn't need to cycle on before i got back from shopping (yay!)
  • brought my niece upstairs to meet jasper (he loves everybody), jasper thoroughly enjoyed the extra scritchins he received from my niece
  • went shopping, and did treat myself to lunch out (burger king dollar menu, spent $1.08 total)
  • got the wood stove going again when i got back from shopping
  • got all the shopping items put away properly, then prepped the veggies for another batch of potato cheese soup with ham (will make this in a couple days) -- this month the same store where i had bought 10 lb bags of white potatoes for $1.79 each last time i shopped had 10 lb bags of russet potatoes for $2.79 each this time, i bought two bags so now have another 20 lbs of potatoes to make sure i use up
  • gave snick and jasper a snack, then took a shower

  • Work on laundry today. Change bed linens for laundry. All that good stuff
  • Our shredder died and I think we're going to buy a new one this afternoon as they're going on sale today at Staples. (I may buy a new printer, too, but I haven't decided yet. The one I've been looking at hasn't gone on sale yet.)
  • Must work on computer stuff again today
  • Put my menus together for this coming week. This week, my menus will be from Healthy Cooking 2014. (The Healthy Cooking series is from Taste of Home. The recipes use fresher items, not a lot of packaged stuff and convenience foods. Lower in fat and calories and some are diabetic-friendly, too. I'm pretty careful about serving sizes with these recipes, so that makes it nice. And many of the recipes are quite good. I really like trying out new recipes and using healthier recipes works for us.)

I like the bit where you go to throw, forgotten what, and you bring in the newspaper.
oh, i take the trash out and bring in the newspaper. i try to get things done with the thought of "while i'm going in that direction anyway". in the case of bringing in the newspaper, i wouldn't make a second trip outside in the cold and snow to bring in the paper.

I hate the newspaper. It's so depressing. We're having elections again after 2 years. If it's the same prime minister your president will have a fit.

No grocery shopping tonight. We bought cat food and cat litter a couple days ago, so we don't have to deal with a trip to the store. Monday is normally a grocery night.
  • Planning commission meeting tonight right after work. Rick is picking me up afterward because we are to get a bout of freezing rain late this afternoon into tonight and turning over to snow. He brought me into work this morning.
  • Scoop the boxes
  • Working on some computer stuff for my work. (I am using Illustrator to make some large--36 x 24 inches--display boards for a series of meetings we'll start having at the end of February.)
