Rick is still having trouble with that sinus headache (he's back on the couch right now), so it will be low-key around here today.
  • I may take down a few decorations here and there.
  • Scooping the boxes
  • I need to get all my winter walking gear in order (find my muffs, find my Yak Trax, all that good stuff)

  • Took down the Christmas decorations, much to Mogli's dismay
  • Emptied the trash

  • dumped the wood stove ash pan, added more wood to the wb stove
  • gave snick and jasper their breakfasts, then made mine
  • washed the dishes, scooped litter boxes, took the trash out, and brought in the newspaper
  • called my mom, our usual weekly chat
  • located a set of silicone pot holders at amazon -- will use them for carrying out the wood stove ash pan. that ash pan gets very hot, even though i wait each morning until there are relatively low and small amount of embers and then carry it out to dump the ashes. the cloth pot holders i have used all end up getting torn by the corners of the ash pan handle. so my plan is to use silicone pot holders, but first file down the pointy corners of the ash pan handle. will need to run over to the hardware store up the street tomorrow to buy a file.
  • will run the washing machine later this afternoon, so i'm ready to simply move the washer load to the dryer to dry and then fold/put away clean laundry tomorrow

  • I've taken down the outside Christmas decorations
  • I will take down the inside ones as well
  • I put a load of laundry in the wash and will (obviously) move it to the dryer and put in a few more loads
  • We will hopefully go to the gym later

  • Fed the cats breakfast. And lunch. Dinner, too. Waiting for bedtime meal . . . .
  • Scooped litter pans. Repeated as necessary.
  • Did a load of laundry. It's in the drier. May, perhaps, get it put away yet this evening.
  • Took down most of the seasonal decorations. Need to find a new box for the tomten. Still need to get their boxes into storage container.
  • Firewood into wood burning stove. Repeat. Repeat.
  • Moved dormant amaryllis from greenhouse to basement, to sleep for the rest of the winter.
  • Made a very nice dinner to start off the new year.

Rick is off work today, but here I am, back in office. Darn it. He is going to take down the lights from outside and do a vacuum about the house.
  • Do something at work today, although I don't really feel like working. It's going to take a while to get back into the groove.
  • A quick run to the store during my lunch break
  • Play cards with friends tonight; they're coming in around 5:30 or so, for a quick dinner (I think just delivery pizza, to be honest....I've cooked enough for a while), followed by some Canasta and/or Shang-Hai Rummy (they were coming on Saturday, but now the weatherweenies are calling for sleet and freezing rain, starting Saturday afternoon and going into Sunday morning sometime)

  • Rick is going to get the recycling down to the center. We are way behind in recycling and it looks it in the basement.
  • While he's doing that, I'm going to start taking down the Tacky White Tree
  • And then we'll both start taking down the living room tree and other decorations
I hope that's the way it's going to go.

  • I will work a short shift today as I took 4 hours off at the end of my shift. So 6 hours (plus a 1-hour lunch) instead of 10!
  • We will go to the gym after work.
  • I made purple oatmeal (mixed berries give the color) and green tea for breakfast.

  • dumped the wood stove ash pan, added more firewood to the wb stove
  • give snick her sub-q's, then her breakfast/give jasper his breakfast
  • we had a big problem late yesterday evening -- snick had had a (urine) accident on one of her cat trees about 10 days ago. i cleaned very carefully with natures miracle just for cats urine destroyer. i used the uv (black light) flash light i have to make sure i saw no more "glowing" urine spots. a few days later i smelled some suspiciously urine-like odors, so checked with the uv flash light again and found more urine drops. so i went to town cleaning it again with the natures miracle -- i'm very careful to follow the directions exactly, to get the best possible results. it all looked good when i rechecked with the uv flash light. but late yesterday evening, there came an extremely strong urine smell once again. so i checked with the uv flash light and quite a bit more urine drops were found. so i've developed a multi-pronged plan for dealing with this situation and preventing it from recurring. 1) remove offending item -- the cat tree, which i'll go over with the uv flash light to see if some of the parts are salvageable/have no urine on them. 2) clean the 4 small areas (one on the rug, 3 on the wall) that have urine drops on them with the natures miracle, let dry thoroughly, then recheck with the uv flash light this evening (after it gets dark). 3) once urine spots have been removed, spray these spots with feliway spray once each day, checking every evening for urine with the uv flash light. i already have a feliway diffuser plugged in no more than one foot from that cat tree. i certainly don't blame snick or jasper for any of this, accidents happen and if there's a urine smell i know cats tend to think that the urine-smell spot must be an okay place to pee. i just need to deal with this and prevent it from recurring.
  • move more firewood to the living room log rack
  • make my breakfast
  • put together and bake a beef burrito casserole
  • wash the dishes, scoop litter boxes, take the trash out, and bring in the newspaper
  • will try to take a nap at some point today

Well, Christmas is done in the house for another year. House has been cleaned and everything put away (except for the dishes and I will do them in February). We worked in the basement yesterday, too, (cleaning up Christmas totes) so it's all put away down there and the basement looks pretty good.
  • Do a couple loads of laundry (basically the bed sheets and a load of cat linens)
  • Clean Tabby's ears and clip Tabby's and Mollipop's claws this afternoon
  • I'd like to get into the bathroom closet and do some cleaning out in there, but we'll see how that goes
  • Do some work on the laptop this afternoon

Not only is it only Monday, but I have to work a full five days this week! No holidays! (That's the first thing Rick groaned about this morning when we got out of bed. "I have to work five days this week!")
  • Charged up my iPod, Nook, phone, and FItbit....all ready to go for the week
  • We will be going for a few groceries tonight after work, primarily cat food, litter, apples, and yogurt
  • Start my exercise program tonight (maybe if I list it here, it will motivate me to start it)

Oh dear. The ex does their box every morning
gave the cats their wet food which only whisky ate.
took my morning medicine.
Will heat what's left of the yakisoba and take my second lot of medicine.
give the cats their wet food and take the last lot of medicine and go to bed perchance to dream.
