Way to go on 1.16 lbs lost Pat!

I lost .75 lbs this week - not bad at all considering how much I ate on Sunday! I'd like this week to be in the 2+ lbs range, though; I need another boost lately as I've been struggling with cravings a bit.
You can do this. You can beat those cravings. You are stronger than they are. Have a great week.

I went to the OSU doctor and  they told me I weighed 196 which is great from 204  .I'm having an Hiatial  Hernia surgery soon which will make me lose even more.

Hello all.

I had a small gain this week, .75 lbs.
That's what I lost last week. I had a binge on Sunday night so I'm not surprised. We have a family member in the hospital and it's been quite stressful. I moved my calorie level for this week up to half pound per week loss - it's Patrick's birthday as well as a family celebration this weekend so I needed the leeway. Next Monday I will drop them back down to 2 lbs a week loss level.

Well, it's an interesting past week to report.  I hit a high shortly after Easter of 157.1, then came down to 153s, hung there with just one day in the 152s last week.  So my average on Monday popped up 1.6 pounds (!) to 154.14.  What is interesting to me is I am losing the swing up on the very thing that I think caused the swing up.  It's all about balance and moderation!  I doubt anyone would look at my Easter menu and think I pigged out etc.  I didn't!  But I had too much for me.

Monday's single day weight was 153.8, Tuesday was 152.2 and today was 152.9.  At my doctor's apt, after breakfast and lunch, and of course with clothes on, I was 154.7.  Not bad :)

This is the *first* time one of my doctors has looked at me and said, you can stop now, you've lost enough - I can see your sternum!  Yep, I know and I hate seeing it...just too many bones now visible on top!

When I first began seeing this doctor (pulmonologist for my sleep apena), I was 295 and over 55% BMI (!!!!!!!).    My current bmi is 26.3 (wish they'd let me get in the 1/2 inch of my height lol, and i rounded my weight today up to 153).  I still want this bmi lower but I'm almost happy with it.  My goal is simply to be healthy and no longer to even be considered "overweight".  Coming from the Morbidly Obese category to normal is what I would love to see.

So, there you are.  I am zip for real progress over the past 3 weeks if you simply look at weight, but I saw 150+ for the first time, and more 152s, and a 151, and my body shape is changing again.  I count that as progress :)

Have a good week all.  I am coming up on my 4th year anniversary of starting my weight loss journey.  It has been so worth it.

Yay Pat :woohoo:
You are doing so great.
What's your goal weight again? Sorry I forget. It must be so close. Bones poking out! Did you even think that would be possible four years ago?
I'm so proud of you. :hugs:

Aw thank you!  No, I most certainly did not expect to see bones - find my cheekbones yes (lol) but not this.  My goal weight originally was 140 (the range for my height is 127 to 148 I believe), but me losing another 10-12 pounds would be absurd (truly).  My new goal weight though I might tinker with it a wee bit, is 146 (I might go to 144 my former - feel perfect weight ..back when I was younger and 5' 6-1/2 inches.  I was always a curvy gal).
As if to reward me for my attitude, new one day low this morning (and I weighed early..jokingly told my husband I should go back to bed so i could maybe see a 149 if i slept another couple of hours) is 150.2.  Woo!

After having gastro I was at a weight that I'm striving for but actually I didn't like the look of myself. I was skinny. I want some shape about me. My weight lifting is going to fix that problem so I'm pretty happy hovering around my pre gastro weight for now. I'm not leaving this thread. It keeps me in line, it's friendly and I keep learning excellent tips. Its a life long learning process- me thinks. :D

Life learning indeed.

I have not been eating well at all.  Could be worse, could be SO much better.

I read everyone's posts each time they arrive.  I know, I can stop the speeding train I'm on and am trying other methods to learn more. Just purchased a very highly rated book by a medical professional I trust (i.e.; not Dr. Oz) about the downfalls of "dieting", written in a scientific way which I appreciate.  I just got it downloaded onto the Kindle yesterday.  Today will be a good day to start reading it as I'm recuperating from yet another round of dental surgery.  This, I think is a large part of why I've been eating poorly - chewing more healthy options has been a great source of difficulty and annoyance for a few months now and while I am not depressed, I'm not happy either.  Softer foods are easier but that, unfortunately, comes with a lot of calories and more so, fat content.

Maybe I need to just get over the "poor pitiful" me stage
.  It sure doesn't help to berate oneself.  I was doing really well for many months and seeing good results.  I need to find a way to develop that mindset again.

Anyway, every day is a new start. Today is a good day thus far.  I'll concentrate on that.

Good work to everyone who is staying on track!

Every day is absolutely a new start. I've been slowly creeping a bit more sugar into my diet but today is the start of a new week and it's not happening this week. :)

Re not trusting Dr. Oz and "the downfalls of dieting", one of his highly advocated diet pills seems to seriously contribute to diabetes - Do Garcinia Cambogia Side Effects Boost Diabetes?

I am sorry guys, I thought I came and caught up in this thread.  I didn't do an average this week because I didn't get 2 days of weights last week.  I fainted early am on Friday while on the way to the bathroom during the night, and my husband felt I should go to the er because of the loss of consciousness and my cardiac history.  I am thoroughly poked, scanned, monitored etc now and was glad to be home within a day and a half (they did admit me).
I am one lucky lady - didn't break anything, though it was close with my nose - ended up with spectacular bruises on face (upper lip, and area from upper lip to nose, shoulders, knees), sore knees, bloody nose, and a fun adventure with hospital food!

That Thursday I had a new low of 150.2.  On Sunday I weight 152.5, but as I expected it went up more.  Monday I weighed 155.8, Tuesday was 156.0 and then I began coming down.  Yesterday I was 154.5, and this morning I am 153.2.  Whew!

I did something I haven't done in 4 years on Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday rm I had what I planned and then a mini (truly) carb-fest.  Sunday I had the best of intentions, but ultimately decided on a 2 rm day - no carbfests though, both were single meals within the hour I need to finish my meals in, and both had vegetables - first rm was well balanced.  Second not as well.

Monday was right back, because that is what I choose.  To be this weight and a wee bit lower, and healthy.  I'm not regaining what I have lost.

Hospital food was fun.  At least they didn't put me on the low fat, low sodium, cardiac diet, and I could choose from their regular menu.  For breakfast each day I chose the skillet breakfast - telling them to hold the potatoes, so it was scrambled eggs, mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, cheese and diced sausage.  Not low calorie (I swear there were at least 4 eggs in this concoction), but at least it had veggies.  1 half and half with my coffee.  Lunch each day I chose a chef salad - none of the dressing options were really good for me.  First day I goofed because I thought asian sesame might mean a spicy citrus vinaigrette, but it was more like a satay sauce - tasted of peanuts and was thickish.  Second time I got the balsamic vinaigrette.

Dinner on the one day I had it there, my rm, I had a grilled chicken sandwich (did eat the bun) with lettuce, tomato and onion, started with a garden salad with blue cheese, and 1 cookie for dessert.

So glad to be home and to see my weight heading back to where it belongs.  I am now a reformed coffee drinker (I was up to 40+ oz. of strong coffee per day) and am drinking water dutifully (I hadn't been drinking enough), and am probably going to lose some hair (no more rogaine for women - one of it's side effects besides abnormal heart rhythm - my cardiologist had okayed my using rogaine - is dizziness.)  Dehydration and the rogaine are what they feel caused this.

DRINK YOUR WATER LADIES!

I never, ever, want to scare my poor husband like that again.  I knew I was suddenly nauseated and very dizzy, and I *thought* I sat down after opening the bedroom door.  My husband woke up because he heard a loud wham, and saw me sprawled on the floor, white as cloud <G>.

Which brings me to my second point - CHERISH EVERY DAY...you sure don't know which one may be your last.

I try really hard to drink enough water every day but I know I don't drink enough. We go through a big 18L jug of water every week but I use it to make bottles too and in any recipes that call for water because our tap water is gross.
