Aw, @Pat!!!
No!!! I think you should absolutely feel free to share what has worked for you! I just check TCS sporadically - checked it this AM before you posted that but just logged back on now so didn't see it earlier.

I honestly feel the same way some times - especially at my weight loss group since I'm the only one who's consistently losing any weight. They all complain about going up and down and I just want to shake them all and make them download MyFitnessPal haha. I know it works for me and I want them to have weight loss success, too. But then again, counting calories doesn't necessarily work for everyone, so my zeal may be misguided!

I think it's awesome that you have been on such a long journey and that the low-carb program has worked so wonderfully for you. I watch carbs too - I try to keep my carbs to less than 150 per day which is half the RDA. I watch fiber too - 21 grams minimum and I prefer to get over 30. The more fiber the fewer net carbs!

You have a wonderful story to tell and CALP is a big part of that story. I think anyone in this thread, myself included, would benefit from looking into it. :)

I have no problem with anything you post Pat.

The only times I have issues are with anyone who is trying to lose in an unhealthy way such as fad diets, using supplements which are not FDA approved, etc.

I read everything here, just don't have the time to post.  And I'm still not doing good so not much to report.  Still eating a soft foods diet mostly, stitches come out this Tuesday.  I hope, once my mouth feels more healed I'll be motivated to eat better.

Also, I signed up for 27 weeks of our local farm box.  I'm very excited about this.  Fresh fruits and veggies all summer through fall, plus all the flowers and herbs I can pick!  One of the reasons I tend to slip is from not being able to find fresh and appealing looking produce.  Knowing I can pick up a box of it weekly, along with other things they offer on the side (such as farm fresh eggs and milk) will be ridiculously helpful.

When I'm doing well, I watch carb intake also.  I find I do best on a higher ratio of protein, and some fat with limiting my carb intake but not getting rid of it.  I don't tend to eat a lot of high sugar foods in general so keeping it on the lower side usually is easy (enough lol).

Laurie,
I've thought about doing that, sounds marvelous.  I know though, that since I am lucky enough to have the space, I am better off getting my franny outside and using all my raised beds and growing what I can :)

If I was able to, I'd do the same.  I had grown heirloom tomatoes for a few years - they were fantastic but, SO much work.  I had to grow them in large pots, and they dry out quicker that way.  It was a daily battle of watering, and since I leave at 7am and don't return until 7pm (if lucky) the watering wasn't regular enough and I had cracking of skins and other problems.  Overall, still got great crops but a lot were ruined.

I don't have great sun in the back yard, which also happens to be really small (and half is a patio) and what I have I dedicated to roses.  Last year, I ignored everything because of just having surgery - there was no way I could garden.  I do love it though. It's relaxing, and I love the payoff.  This year, the roses will get much more loving care, as will my other flowering plants (I have a ton of hydrangeas), and my herb pots.  Very looking forward to warmer weather.

I had an awesome week until yesterday when we went out to eat with my work group. Had quite a few calories, lol! My weight was up this AM. I stayed low in calories today and we took a 1 hr walk. Hoping for the best between now and weigh-in day tomorrow! If I ever get tired of the group format I think I'll switch to Pat's averaging system. I would definitely have a wonderful loss if I went by the average of my weight this week!

I lost 1.6 pounds this past week - had a swing up today (brunch out yesterday fancy shmancy though I think I did pretty good.  Meant it to be only meal of the day but had a small - under 200 calorie meal late eve). which wrecked what my new average could have been.
New weight by average is 154.6 - less than 9 pounds to goal.  213.4 pounds lost to date.

Sick and getting sicker...sigh.

Congrats Pat! I hope you feel better soon.

Some time between my post last night and my weigh-in today, the powers that be smiled on me. I lost 3.25 pounds this week. I've lost 60.5 lbs so far. With 160 more to go. :(

Enjoy keeping track..I love looking back over my daily weight journal to see where I was 1-2-3 - now almost 4 years ago.  You are doing so so well!  60 pounds is an achievement, many don't break that 50 pound mark.

Thank you Pat!
Been having a rough few days but I should be back on track as of today.

Anyone else want to weigh in (literally or figuratively) this week?

Well done Parsleysage and Pat
Hope you are feeling better soon Pat.
How's this for averaging. My trainer has me weighing myself three times a day. My weight has gone up and my waist has gone up 2cm. That's the max allowed for my waist so next week I am on a fat burning crazy cardio week. I am on a new nutrition plan. I'm eating more carbs to give me the energy to lift heavier weights and eating simple carbs after training to increase my muscle growth. The simple carbs do not include sugar but I have been having fruit buns and I love fruit buns so I'm not feeling deprived of sweetness. Next week I will reduce carbs and my total calories and run like mad to burn off some more fat. I'm fortunate enough to be very fit but being fit does not mean I am exempt from gaining body fat especially as I get older.
Oops. Started this post and didn't finish it.
I was doing some jogging on the spot last night and got a glimpse of the back of my legs in the mirror. It was a huge shock for me. I didn't think I had the backside of A super model but holy heck I didn't think it was that bad either. Next week is my chance to improve that. I will do the exercise no probs and I'm going to stick to the nutrition plan- I am - I am.
Have a great week everyone. Let's eat right and be healthy. :D
