All digital scales are crazy! I can't stand them... when your weight changes you never know if it's a calibration issue, a fluctuation, or a true weight loss/gain. That's why I don't count the ones I do at home, only the ones on the "real" beam scale at my weight loss group!

Monday here. My daughter made choc chip cookies yesterday. :anon: when they are still warm they are my worst enemy. I'm glad to say I'm over my cheesecake thing. I have a new nutrition plan from my trainer now. 45% carbs 35% protein and 20% fats. I stuck to it all week. I'm allowing myself a cheat once a week which is a dessert. I still tend to go a bit berserk but I'm getting better. The cookies - they were not on the menu. You live and learn from your mistakes.
As for the scales. I just moved mine from the bathroom to my bedroom. I always put mine on the same spot too but they have been a bit haywire since the move.
I forgot to measure my waist first thing I'll do that tomorrow.

I think anyone might be tempted by warm chocolate chips!

Things here have been very difficult.  I've mentioned before that I have chronic problems with my gums,  I'm on a 4x yearly preventative maintenance program with the periodontist but, it's a progressive disease (yep, it is a disease) and this past week I had to have more surgery and a bone graft in one tooth which had become loose (front upper, NOT happy).

Eating is always tough afterwards, I can only manage very soft foods which leaves a lot of what is healthier out of the question.  I ate as needed, not as I would have liked to.  A lot of creamy, high calorie/high fat food.I didn't gain this week, or at least it does not appear that way, my scale seems to have settled itself, so there's that.  And for now I'll take it.  Stitches don't come out for another week, so this week probably be more of the same.

Best of luck to everyone, have a good week!

The only thing better than warm chocolate chip cookies is the actual chocolate chip cookie dough. Yum.

I stayed the same from last week.

We have WW digital scales and they make me spastic. I can get on them three times and get three different weights.

Tammat, looks like you had a good week. Congrats!

Laurie, I'm sorry about your mouth. I hope you feel better soon. And you didn't gain, so that's good news!

Hi all!  Hope you feel better soon sivyaleah.  I hear you all re the scales.  I put mine on the same spot, otherwise it drives me mad.  Two tiles up from the rug and two tiles over from the bottom of my exercise bike..lol.

It was a difficult week, with the middle of the week seeing me just under 158.  I thought there was no way I'd lose since my last averaged weight, last Monday, was 156.42.  But I kept on plan, and had two one day new lows over the weekend of 155.9 and 155.4.  My new weight by average is only down .22 of a pound but it is a loss.  I am 156.20.

I would LOVE to see a 153 this week!

@sivyaleah  Laurie, I hope you are feeling better soon! I'm so sorry about the trouble periodontitis gives you. I have a deep pocket around a crown on my upper left and with the braces it's so hard to floss. We are just trying to hold the pocket steady and prevent it from getting deeper. I actually just had my dentist's appointment today, funny enough. Try smoothies if you can, they're a soft but nutritious choice. When I had dental surgery done I think I ate Panera soup and mac & cheese for three days straight!

@Tammat  WHO could resist warm gooey chocolate chip cookies?????? Don't beat yourself up. Let us know your progress tomorrow!

Pam & Pat, good job this week! Pam, not gaining counts as a victory. :)

I lost 1.25 pounds this week. I wanted more, but I'm fine with it. We are going to start walking regularly again soon because it's warming up, so I hope to see my losses kick into gear.

I measured again today. I'm Still 2cm bigger in the waist. I was hoping there was a bit of bloating involved. Nope.anyways that is acceptable with my muscle gain but I am not allowed any more. There is no more room for error in the next few weeks. A Big lesson learned.

Congrats Parsleysage on the loss!  Tammat, if you ever allow yourself a cheat day or more carbs, I'd work in your favs so it's easier to resist them when not part of a planned week's menus.

Hi, can I join in? My husband just bought us a new food prep system and I am planning on using it to make my own food instead of prepared meals and lose some weight. Now that it's warming up, we are going to start going for walks every day as long as the weather is ok. I've become too lazy and always trying to make quick meals because my infant son doesn't like to be put down long enough for me to cook a decent meal. He's 5 months now and getting easier to put down and get stuff done so I am ready to do this. I'm eating up the last of the unhealthy foods this week and will be starting healthy eating soon. I'm waiting for my new food prep system to be shipped, very excited to get it and try it out.

I'm not sure what you mean Pat? I allow myself one cheat meal on Saturday night. This past Saturday was a peach crumble dessert. Was supposed to be one serve. I had two serves. The choc chip cookies were on Sunday. They were not on the menu but I had one and then- well we all know how that story ends. It's so stupid of me. I would never put myself in danger or drink poison but I would binge myself into oblivion which is just as bad for my health. It's happening much less these days so I'm making progress. Painfully slow progress. Any strategies? Anyone? I'm thinking of a savoury alternative. It's the sweet that sets me off.

Welcome Mrs B :wavey: yes please do tell about your food prep system. How exciting

I meant rather than say you can never have a warm chocolate chip cookie, schedule having one.  I am able to not cheat because nothing is forbidden - it's just a question of when, and how much I will have.  That is what I meant.  I thought you had a cheat day, but didn't scroll through the thread to be sure :)

Oh yes I do have a cheat day. I just cheat way more than I should. I felt weak today and I ate an extra piece of toast. I figured that was better than the cookies that were tempting me. I think that's the kind of strategy I need. A couple hundred extra calories is way better than a couple thousand extra. I will work this out. I will!!

We have WW digital scales and they make me spastic. I can get on them three times and get three different weights.
The BF can get on it 5 minutes apart and it'll usually add 2lb to the first weight. We keep it in the same spot in the bathroom and it just says what it wants. After this morning, he really wants an analog scale.

This morning was not a great morning .... very VERY discouraged, negative, and was ready to just throw in the towel and go back to eating what I want, when I want and not caring anymore. In the past 3 weeks, I had lost 7lbs, and dipped into the 140s (just barely - 149.9 on Sunday... still 15lb from my goal). Since Sunday, I'm back up to 152.6 :( I haven't changed my eating very much from what I was doing the last 3 weeks.... and for a week of my weight loss success, it was that time of the month - usually I'm bloated then, so it makes even less sense. Had a little breakdown about it.

Luckily BF was feeling extra nice this morning lol. We're supposed to start walking around the neighborhood when we get home from work, because it's finally still light enough out when we get home. He bought me a pole for my birthday that showed up last week, so I can get back into my pole fitness again - I used to ALWAYS be doing that. Just need to bring a stud finder home to get it set up.

I've been craving all the things I haven't eaten in 3 weeks - pasta, ice cream cake (didn't even get to finish my birthday one because we started the diet right after my birthday), bread more than once every 8-9 days ... We are going to be eating pretty "bad" next weekend when we are out of town - all you can eat crab leg buffet, and a Brazilian steakhouse where I eat all the filet I can fit (gotta make the $37/person worth it!) so I'm trying to save my splurge for then rather than start up now, especially with that funk this morning ...

I think this is a fair place to say that I love the way I eat, and do recommend it for many folks.  I am able to work in a carb (or small portion of more than one) once a day, and it keeps me from craving cookies, bread what have you because if I want something, I just work it into my menu.  I might wait a day or two if I've something else planned, but I can have it.

I do eat differently than many I know - my choice to limit eggs, so I eat a lot of unconventional breakfasts, and I am a fan of miracle noodles for when I want to feel fuller without any carbs or calories :)

I follow the Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program, it works really really well for me.  I do not eat more than 1500 calories per day (usually less) and that is not a part of the program, but my choice, because I had to have a consistent easy way to relearn portion control.

I highly recommend the program for consideration, to see if it would work for anyone here.

I cook, I eat out ( a lot some weeks), I bake, and I've lost a great deal of weight as anyone following this thread and last years, knows.

Breakfast this am (an egg day!  I do eat eggs 1-3 times per week): 1 slice sugar-free bacon diced up with 2 large mushrooms - used the fat from that slice of bacon to cook the mushrooms and the 2 eggs I made over easy. 1/2 slice of chipotle cheddar cheese. 1 oz. half and half with my coffee.  This came to 273 calories, 4 gms carb, 19 gms fat, 21 gms protein (not that I set my meal to any gms total, it is supposed to be half protein, half low carb veggies..I tend to be lower on veggies at breakfast).

Anyhoo..it took me YEARS of starting and stopping to finally get this right.  But for me, it has always been with the knowledge that CALP was the way to eat for me, as I'd damaged my metabolism over the years with yo-yo dieting (I used to be a very successful Weight Watchers client), and had developed metabolic syndrome.  I am almost to maintenance, and this will be the way I eat for the rest of my life. I plan to add some carbs/calories, but only a small amount - and they will come from nuts, fruits, avocado.

Tinker, try things, just find what makes the most sense for how you live, how you cook, how you like to eat and then don't let anything knock you off that plan.

You truly don't want a come to god moment, which I had when I went into atrial flutter a couple of years ago (thank god I'd already lost some weight at that point or they could not have done the atrial ablation I had done..as it was, they hit my femoral artery because it was so hard to reach given the fat I had on my thigh and the length of needle they had..they almost couldn't do it, and I had a bruise I can't begin to describe).

There I was, I felt FINE but my heart was super fast and not in normal rhythm, and I was watching everyone rush around, in disbelief.  I felt fine, but I wasn't responding to medication, my husband was at bedside and so very worried.  It was surreal.

Find your plan, and know it is more important than anything else, to figure out how to eat in a way you like - that helps you be a healthy weight, make it the most important thing next to your faith, family.

Look for how you can, not why you can't.

'k..more than enough said :)

For today only (I do weekly averages to get my weight) I've lost 215 pounds, 9 pounds to goal.  By average, it is approx. 212 (having a good week so far).

I sincerely hope this is taken as I intend, and does not offend anyone.

By the silence, I may have been wrong that I could share the above.  I simply hate to see how upset folks are getting, as I know the frustration with working out what will work for you, is like.  I truly believe my answer could work for some, hence my sharing it.  If I can find the what's for dinner thread, I'll keep my food postings to there and the what did you just eat thread.
