I am Pat.  In fact, the past few days I'm having difficult concentrating at work.  I don't know if it's the weather (SO sick of it and being delayed getting to and from work) and or/ impending additional dental surgery (loose front tooth, totally terrified it's going to fall out before we can get it stabilized), job stress (love being here, but I have my plate full of deadlines), leftover holiday binging, or what.  It sort of doesn't even matter because in the end I'm just not focused enough.  I probably need to do some deeper soul searching to see what's preventing me from getting back to making my eating habits a healthier priority.  It isn't so much quantity than it is the quality of what I'm eating.

I tried rejoining Weight Watchers yesterday and it seems like it didn't go through, and now I can't log in at all.  Wrote customer service and here it is 24 hours later plus and they still haven't figured out what happened.

Regardless, yesterday I did pretty good overall and today so far, not bad at all.  Right now I'm having a small pea soup with some saltines, and a small plain lowfat yogurt with honey, chopped walnuts and dried figs. Very yummy.

Anna - fantastic job!

I haven't read the entire thread, but from these last few pages, sounds like everyone is doing a great job!!

I'm going to have to join in - the BF and I have started eating better and trying to diet (though I loathe the word diet!). We're doing the HCG drops - we did them last year and I lost about 8lb in 3 weeks, he lost around 15lb. We've been doing them just under a week now, and I've lost 4lb, he's lost 8lb. My goal is to lose around 20-25lb overall, his is 50lb. I have a really hard time with it, because if I don't see continuous results, I get discouraged and wind up back at square one.

I used to be able to eat whatever I wanted, whenever, and however much....I LOVE bread, pasta, potatoes, etc.

I didn't really realize that I was working out so much before, 3-4 years ago, which must have kept the weight on track. I would be doing my pole fitness stuff with a friend 3-4 hours a night, 3-4x a week, and find time to go to the gym and do Saturday morning "boot camps" at the YMCA. A lot of the weight I gained back then was muscle weight, but of course I didn't see it like that at the time  I'm about 20lb heavier than I was then, and I hate it even more because I know most of the muscle is gone. The BF bought me a new pole for my birthday last week so I can get back into doing it again now that we have space.

After my car accident in 2011, I lost 25lb in a month because I wasn't eating much - forcing myself to eat something once a day, was kind of in a depression/funk. I'm now 50lbs heavier than I was the day my BF and I got together, & about 25lb heavier than I was comfortable at. I called it the "stress diet", but now my stress diet consists of eating everything in my path.

I haven't been following the HCG thing to a T, as it's been hard to completely change my eating habits this time around. I've allowed myself a few fries here and there when we are out, but not eating an entire plate of it. If I get a sandwich, I will eat the bun. At home we've cut out bread, pasta, etc for the 3 week duration. I haven't had soda, candy, etc since last Thursday. That part hasn't been as hard for me as I expected. The last time we did this, we would get full much faster after it was over, and didn't really enjoy a lot of the horrible stuff anymore. It kind of helped us get back into moderation. Then we completely fell off it all again and are back to the start.

Look forward to checking in & hearing about everyone's progress..!

Hi Tara, welcome!  Very happy to have you with our group!

Back to what I wrote earlier...finally got WW to help me, I've signed back up for 3 months.  I think, upon reflecting on some stuff, that it's as basic as I've just allowed myself to get down on my progress and it caused a serious backslide.  Hoping rejoining and being accountable to myself will be the kick in the pants I need to refocus.

Laurie, have you ever looked into TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly)? That's the group I go to. It's similar to WW - you go each week, weigh-in, have a meeting, etc., but you can follow any food plan (including PP if you like!) and it's only $32 a year plus about $5 monthly dues (depends on chapter), instead of $30-40 a month. It's a huge cost saver and I absolutely love having the time to spend an hour each week focused only on my weight loss goal, plus getting to weigh in same time same place. There are chapters nationwide. Most folks are 40+ if that matters to you. Might be worth a shot and save you some dough!

Anna, I had never heard of this before.  I did check to see if any locations were close to me but the only one around is 45 minutes away.  Too inconvenient.

It's incredibly reasonable.  I'll keep my eye out for it just in case it shows up closer.

Having said that, I'm not one for being in groups by a long shot.  I do way better on my own, although I do enjoy talking to people who are going through the same process.  I have a woman in my office who has struggled with her weight far longer than I have been and we encourage each other and commiserate together as well.

Honestly, the best I did losing weight was on my own some years ago.  I lost 50 just by doing a combination of WW and tracking in other places (FitDay).  I really thought I had this figured out up until December - which is when I slacked off.  I am NOT happy about it, that much is for sure and I think once I get back into the swing of things it will be easy again.  Each time I learn something new about myself and how to do this but as we all know, it makes it no less of a challenge.  I just keep reminding myself of several things: a) I'm far healthier overall than my mom was at my age (nearly 56), I eat better than she did and am also more active (although that's not saying much since I had my 3rd knee injury nearly 2 years ago at this point).  I don't smoke cigarettes, I don't drink practically at all (not even once a month I bet), all of my vital signs are good and in normal ranges other than cholesteral but, even when I lost a lot of weight it was still borderline so it has a lot to do with heredity (I'm on meds for that anyway).

*sigh* At least I pushed through whatever has been giving me resistance and did something positive today about it.  I hope, in a few days once I'm back tracking again, and eating more mindfully that it will all fall back into place.

Except Thursday because it's my BF's birthday and he himself is feeling kind of down and blue so I'm taking him for dinner.  But...we're going for sushi.  We both love it, and it's far better than some heavy Italian meal

I weigh 204. I'm having a hernia surgery soon and a friend has lost a lot with hers. I hope I do.

Darn Laurie! It sucks the nearest meeting is so far away. I don't necessarily disagree about the meeting thing; I can educate myself a lot better online and the tools that I use to lose are my phone and a kitchen scale. But I just like the accountability part. I have to show up somewhere to weigh in and it gets recorded and I can't just pretend it didn't happen LOL. Good luck with WW!!!!

Thanks Anna (again!).

Oh I don't forget about it after weighing myself lol.  Actually, Tom is the first guy I've been with that I share my feelings about all this with. My first husband, made me feel like crap about myself.  I wasn't even all that heavy then - I think I was around 135-140ish.  My second, it just never really was talked about because he was overweight, and never tried to do anything about it for himself.  When I lost that 50 pounds, it was during that relationship - I did it on my own, with no emotional support - just determination.  This time, having my BF be a huge champion and supporter and even joining me does make a difference.  Even if I'm not being successful at it, at least I know he loves me as I am, and is always there to talk it out with.

Now if he'd stop bringing donuts home for no reason other than he wanted it and assumed I did too...ROFL

Hi everyone :wavey: sorry I've been absent. I have just caught up on how you are all going. Great job
Welcome Tara :wavey:
I've been eating really well this week. When I hopped on my trainers scales my body fat was up and my muscle loss down. :sigh: that was disappointing but he said it shows that I haven't been eating enough. I've been eating more this week. My waist is 1 cm smaller and I've lost a kilo in weight. The best thing is I feel much more stable and in control. Let's hope I can stay that way :D

Hi folks!  Just a quick drop in to say I managed to have a loss this past week of 1.38 pounds, two days in the 155s, but a horrid weight for just today of 158. Ugh. I know why, have some adjusting to do!  My new weight by average is 156.42, so I am just 10.42 pounds from goal!

Making Chicken Bombs for dinner tonight and trying my hand at Fresh Spring Rolls with Thai Dipping Sauce.  I also think I just broke a little toe.  Again.  Sigh.

Congrats, Pat! Good luck this week Pam. :wavey:

Only a half pound loss for me today. I had several big weeks in a row so I'm not surprised but still a bit disappointed. Let's have a great week!

My scale saga continues.  Showed 2-1/2 pounds lost from last week, Not possible. I did ok, not great in my eating.

I'm going to have to break down and get a new one.  Please let me know what brand you're using if you're happy with performance.

As for this week, I will be eating soft foods for several days only due to more dental surgery so that should be helpful LOL.

Weighed in this morning and apparently gained a pound this weekend. I was holding at 152 all weekend, this morning was back up to 153. Overall, since I started the diet again Thursday 2/19, I've lost between 4-5lb. The BF is now down 11. He held up 2 small bags of dog food yesterday and said "this is how much I've lost" ... I was disappointed just thinking o my 5lb, until I held up the 5lb food bag myself and realized hey that's not too shabby.... I'll be happier when I get back into the 140s though ... my goal of 135 is still ~18lb away (though at this point I'll be happy to see 139!).

We haven't been eating as wonderfully as we should be - we've bent some "rules", especially this weekend. Hoping to get back on the right path this week. Not only is eating better supposed to be a health change, it's also supposed to be a financial "diet' ... we sure spend a lot of $$ eating out!

I use a Conair Weight Watchers glass scale that Costco sold and I believe, still sells.

Thank you. I don't belong to Costco, but I do have a membership with BJ's.  I'll see if they carry it - or Amazon.

I finally stepped on the scale. :cringe: I had no choice. I had an appt at the pulmonary dr. I'm up around 11 pounds since last July. It had to have been higher because I've been trying to eat better and exercise more. The number is enough for me to kick it into higher gear though.

Well done ot those of you that have been sticking with it!

That's what we have also.

The BF swears it's crazy and wants an old "analog" scale :lol3:

I will say I have a way to tell that it is always on the same spot on the floor (two tiles over from the exercise bike and two tiles up from the edge of the carpet..lol).  Otherwise, it IS crazy!
