Well I'm ashamed to I gave up on the Brontes. It's not like i don't know what happened. Governesses. Died young. The brother went off the rails.
Any case I'm now reading The Mystery of Mercy Close by Marian Keyes. It's ok so it's not going as quickly as it should but it's going.
Lately I've been finding so many of my books boring, as is my sister and we more or less read the same things. It's even happened that I'm here and she's in England and we're reading the same book. I find it strange as we didn't get on as kids or teens. She was privately educated, she had the brains, I went to high school, then I came here. She even tells me what not to buy as she's already bought it. Weird. Complete opposites.
Right who else is reading what?

On my Nook:

The Screwtape Letters - C.S. Lewis

The Enemy - Lee Child (A Jack Reacher novel)

Captain's Paradise - Kay Hooper

Declan's Cross - Carla Negger (A quick whodunit; at least I think so. Never read anything by her before)

I take my Nook to bed, read maybe 2-3 pages, roll over and go to sleep. Not having a lot of luck reading right now.

Love the Jack Reacher books!

I just finished the Preston-Child Pendergast series.  Eagerly awaiting the next one.

Just started the "Blue Blood" series by Melissa de la Cruz.  Finished the first one and just started the second.  Not sure if I like these books or not.  The books are supposed to be about vampires.  But I was more than 3/4 through the first one before any mention of vampires was even mentioned.  Most of it was teenage drama of high society kids' fashion, shopping and clubbing.  I'll finish this second book, but if it doesn't get better, I'm passing on the rest of the books.

Just finished Nora Ephron's "I Feel Bad About My Neck".  Hilarious quick read for those of us at a certain age.

Now reading "The Liar's Ball" by Vicky Ward.  Gossipy non-fiction insight into the NYC real estate industry.  I know a lot of the names involved, some are my companies clients.  My boss is even mentioned, albeit briefly :D

I have the whole Spellsinger series - in paper, no less. Another good talking animal series is the Tales of Redwall, by Brian Jacques. I have 14 of them, also in paper.

I try to read LOTR every year And have been doing so since 1976.
ave

what's LOTR?

I'm reading Love Rosie by Cecelia Ahern.
So far so good. Had a jolly good start. Decided I needed a light book to read.

I'm flying through it. I'll probably finish it tomorrow. A light easy to read book which is just what I need at the time. Last week I went to the hairdresser for the works. A trim, highlights and colour. A 3 hour business and I left my book at home! No way will I sit for 3 hours without a book so i went to the bookshop and bought this book.

I've been checking the books on the New York Times bestsellers list and putting the ones that seem like ones I'd want to read on hold as e-books from the library.  Some have taken a month or 2 to become available. When I finally get them, I wonder if I'll enjoy the book or not.  So far, I've not been disappointed.

I've recently read the following:

"Still Alice" by Lisa Genova

It's the fictional story of a 50 year old woman diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers.  It was interesting to read about a middle-aged person with the disease, and compare it to seniors I knew who had it.

"Last One Home" by Debbie Macomber

This was a novel about a single mother trying to start a new life for herself and her daughter after leaving her abusive husband. Also about reuniting with her estranged sisters.

"The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah.

It is a historical novel telling the story of 2 sisters living in France during the Nazi occupation during WWII.   There is some romance, but it is not a romance novel.  It shows the horrors of the war, but not so much that it becomes impossible to continue reading, however, I did have to put the e-reader down more than once to go get a tissue.  This one will stay in my mind for a while, but I'm glad I read it.

Next up to read is "The Girls of Mischief Bay" by Susan Mallery, which I think will be a light, funny read.

Currently in college so reading tons of science and medical books
but other then that just started the Game of Thrones by George R. Martin. This is not necessarily an adult book but, Defiantly not for children or even young teenagers!! Wonderful and exciting plot so far but can be a bit intense for those who are not used to it

I'm slogging my way through Melissa de la Cruz's vampire series.  Terrible books!  But I hate starting something and not finishing, so I'm skimming my way through them. Have 3 more to read.

Not a very good writer. Very choppy and the story is all over the place and not told in a very coherent fashion.  The story itself would be good had a more honed and experienced writer written it.

For me, it doesn't matter  how good a story may sound, if the author stinks at writing, the book is ruined for me, as is the case with this series.

I've read so many books recently that I've lost track, but next up is To Kill a Mockingbird for the umpteenth time. The sequel, Go Set a Watchman, is being released in about two weeks.
