Our cat Ollie had a bad case of parasites which resulted in him being on antibiotics for a few months. He had very soft stool as a symptom of the parasites, but that did not go away even after the vet cleared him and said they were gone. After research online I found that he needed probiotics, because being on antibiotics for so long had killed all the good bacteria in him as well. He's been on probiotics now for about two weeks and his energy level has gone up and  his stool has changed from cow pies to soft logs. Yay!! They're also much less stinky. However, while he had the soft stool, some would get left behind on his bottom and he would scoot it off. This caused a red sore on his anus. We have been applying Neosporin for three days now and Ollie is scooting now more than ever. His bottom seems to be extremely itchy-he's not just scooting after the bathroom. My guess is that it's itchy because it is healing. It started to scab which is a good sign but he keeps scooting the scab off! My worry is that if he keeps scooting it will never be able to heal. Is there anything I can give him to help the itchiness? My poor fur-baby has gone through so much these last few months. I feel like we're in the home stretch getting him healed, and I need a little help to get him to the finish line!
