My male 9 mth old has a rounded belly last few days.he is eating, drinking, using bathroom, playing all fine, just round belly.no worms that I see, both my cats are indoor, no fleas,no change food. He has gas occasionally, but he kind of always has.I am concerned at what could be?don't wanna take him to vet unless sure he should go.husband lost his job few weeks back so funds tight right now.he's neutered, had all shots and tested - for leukemia.???

Have you changed his food lately? Maybe he isn't able to digest the food he eating.

Even though you can't see the worms yourself, he may still have them. Just a thought. Maybe switch the food first if funds are tight, then consult a vet if it doesn't get better.

Worms, worms, worms, worms..... Round firm bellies are one of the biggest signs of worms in kittens. You can get over the counter de-wormer.

Just go a trusted pet specialty store or feed store and asked what to give your kitty to get ride of worms.

He probably had worms as a baby and was treated but it didn't kill them all (It can take 3+ treatments).

If the de-wormer 'deflates' your kitten make sure to de-worm your other kitty too.

On the plus side de-worming doesn't hurt cats that have no worms, just maybe upset their tummies for a little bit.

If de-wormer doesn't work it's probably something with the food that doesn't agree with him. Put him on a grain free, limited ingredient diet and see how he does. It can take a couple of tries to find a food that works for him if he does have allergies.

Worms can and do come back. Even after a round of meds. Either way sounds like a vet visit is in order here.
