Adam and Eve told God .........
Lord - when we were in the garden you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you too much anymore and we are lonesome. It is hard for us to remember just how much you love us.
God replied........
No problem! I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will reflect my constant love for you, even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish you are or how childish you get or how unlovable you become, your new companion will love you and accept you as you are just like I do - this will be inspite of yourselves.
And God created a new animal to be their companion. It was a good animal and God was pleased. The new animal was also very pleased to be with Adam and Eve - he continually wagged his little tail.
And then Adam said to God that he had already named all the other animals in the kingdom and could not think of a good name for the new creature. God told Adam - no problem! Because I have created this new animal to reflect my love for you his name will be a reflection of my name - you shall call him dog.
And dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a good companion to them - he loved them very much. They were comforted and God was pleased. Dog was very content with his life and wagged his tail.
After a while, it came to pass that an Angel came to the Lord and said - Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe that they are worth of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well!
God then said - no problem! I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them for what they relly are! The companion will remind them of their limitations and they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration.
And God created CAT to be a companion for Adam and Eve. And CAT would not obey them. When Adam and Eve gazed into CAT'S eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings. And Adam and Eve learned HUMILITY!
Adam and Eve became greatly improved.......
God was pleased.........
Dog was happy..........
and CAT didn't give a sh** one way or another!
