My little girl, Skittles, is a  tuxedo cat five years of age. She had a cold two months ago and recovered but now her eyes are constantly infiltrated by gunk. She has a glob of a combination of teary-looking goop, mucus-like goop and the normal eye crust in her eye constantly. My other, Whiskers, cat only gets a little eye crust every couple days or so, as did Skittles before a few days ago. It doesn't happen when she wakes up in the morning, it seems to form while she is out and about during the day playing with her toys and investigating the Christmas tree. Both cats sleep like us; up all day with maybe an hour nap and sleep during the night, usually with one of us. She will get it when I wake up and look at her upon my chest. Then she will have after I eat breakfast and let her have the milk about two hours after waking up. Then, when I come home from classes at one, they both greet me at the door and she has it in her eyes again. I clean them out constantly and when she comes to lay on me for bed, there is more gunk in her eyes. Sometimes, she'll come to me, wipe her eye with her paw, indicating she wants it out. I don't want her to have an eye infection or anything else. What could it be and what can I do?

It might be herpes or a reoccurrence of an infection. Worth a vet visit.
