Is my kitten's spay incision infected?

I adopted my 8 month old kitten a week ago which was also the same day she was spayed. Since the day we got her, she's been a happy kitten, no signs of pain and very playful and active.

I've been worried about her incision every day that I took her to get checked two days ago because I felt like it looked like it may have gotten infected. However I was told that she was fine and that it was just a litle irritated and swollen and she had no temperature.

But here I am again being all worried about how it looks and I just need a second opinion.

It's hard to tellin the pic; but, it looks like there is some drainage going on. Do you see any sign of puss?

Some swelling is normal when the internal sutures are dissolving (typically 5-7 days post-op.)

Does the area feel warm to the touch?

If this is what the incision looked like when you took her I wouldn't worry. No this doesn't look like you average spay incision so you are right to get it checked out, but if she isn't running a fever and acting normally I wouldn't worry. It definitely looks like there is some drainage going on.

I would be worried if it starts to look different in a bad way (redder, more drainage, white/yellow discharge) or if your kitten starts to act abnormal. Keep an eye on it like you already are!

They sutured her up with dissolvable sutures and then glued up the incision (I imagine they do that so nothing would protrude). What I'm thinking it's her skin getting irritated from the glue and that's why it looks like that. I'm going to give her an extra day and if it doesn't look any better, I'm going to take her back just to make sure everything is healing well.

Swelling like that is normalish in spays.

However she's been licking it, you can tell down at the bottom of the suture it's coming apart. She should be fine but keep a close eye on it and get her a cone.

If it gets worse or there is any green ooze, pus, or she's not feeling right take her to the vet right away. (which you might have already.)

Must wanted to give an update to everyone how my cat is doing.

We ended up not taking her to the vet because her incision seemed to be scabing up so we decided to wait.

Seemed like I was over worrying at the time and here we are, a month post-op and she healed perfectly.
