Good morning, I am new to this site and wanted to introduce myself and my cat heather!  We live in N.J. and heather is a only cat.  Heather chose me when I went to a no kill shelter to see if I was ready to be chosen for another kitten when my cat Dinah of 16 years sadly had to leave me and is now playing in rainbow heaven.

I needed time to grieve for the Dinah and didn't get a cat right away.  I knew Dinah was saying it was time to say goodbye after loving me for 16 yrs as I loved her with all my heart.  She gave me such pleasure over the years and she was a indoor kitty spayed and up till the end shown me that she was thankful for all the love and care.

It was a sad day on valentines day when she could no longer enjoy the quality of life she was use to. Dinah had developed a lump in her left front leg and after having it biopsied it came back as cancer.  They told me that they hoped that they got it all and if not the lump will return and she will become lame. they told me I would know when it was time, Dinah fought a brave battle but sadly the lump returned and she started limping and she one morning said to me that it was time to say goodbye.   I called the vet and knew I would call when the time came and said to bring my Dinah in.

I stayed with her as they gave her a shot to relax and sleep.  I left her as she was sleeping. couldn't bare to be there for that final shot.   I sang to her as she was falling asleep her song..... someone is in the kitchen with Dinah, someones in the kitchen I know know know know someones in the kitchen with Dinah strumbing on the old bango.  her song I sang to her for 16 yrs.....

I had time to prepair myself but it still hurt losing her after 16 yrs..... tears rolling down my face as I recall these memories right now.

A couple of months later my husband said lets go for a drive and he pulled into our no kill shelter and turned to me and said,  do you think its time?  are you ready to have another kitten choose you as their mommy?   I said yes and walked into the shelter with dinahs spirit with me.  I looked at all the cats and kittens and sitting by herself was this gray kitten.. as I approached this kitten (6 months old) she stared at me with those eyes and came forward as I approached her cage. sticking my finger into the cage she rubbed on my finger and knew I had found my new kitten.

She was up to date with her shots and I made a appointment to bring her back to get spayed. just as I was leaving the receptionist said I just want you to know that she was adopted out and was returned because she was pooping outside her litter box and she has loose stool and I said that's ok I will handle it. (thinking it was the change of diet the new person that adopted her chose to give her.)  I changed her diet and yes she did have 2 accidents with watery stool but I got the problem under control with in 5 days by changing her diet and low and behold her stool harded up and she never had another accident again.

I told heather that I was meant to be her mommy and it was meant to be that you were returned after just 5 days with the first mommy.  She said thank god you came, I was waiting for you............

today heather is 3 yrs old and the love of my life, oops got to go feed her she is tapping on my leg which is her sign that its time to be feed. lol

nice to be here,

heather's mom

I know how much it hurts to lose one of our family members, and what a hole it leaves in your heart. Heather is helping to slowly heal that hole, and I'm so glad you made room in your heart for her. She sounds like she is just what you needed, and you are like a  mother that loves several children, each in their own way, she'll make her own place in your life's order. Welcome to the site and keep us updated!
