Mogli was born in June of 2012, so this is his third winter. We got nothing more than a few short flurries in 2012 and 2013, unusually.

It's been snowing all day, and he doesn't know what to make of the white stuff falling from the sky. I took him out on the (cat-safe) balcony a couple of hours ago. He very gingerly extended a paw before attempting to walk on it and had had enough of the cold wet stuff after about 3 minutes. He's fascinated by all the people out shoveling, though. Cat TV!

Our last cat loved snow and would pester for walks in it. When it was deep, he expected me to carry him and put him down whenever he demanded it.

How do your cats react to the sight or feel of snow?

The kitten craned his neck and got very excited watching the big fluffy flakes come down.  My senior cat doesn't seem to notice.  I haven't taken either out into the snow.  They're indoor cats.  I'd rather not give them idea that going outside is possible.  hehe

Abby has been out in it once and now prefers to watch it from the comfort of her heated perch. :lol3:

Henry is adorable!

That is a great picture!

My boys take short walks in the snow. They're OK with it as long as it's not too cold.

@Norachan that is a great picture. That little face popping up over the snow is adorable.  My cats are Florida natives and have never and more than likely will never see snow.

I love that 'little head popped up out of the snow' pic!

My snow story is kinda long.......

Our Bengal Makena goes for walks or hikes nearly every day - but he does not much care for snow. When the snow is more than a few inches deep he prefers to stay in - but he becomes frustrated after a few days of being cooped up. He figured out that he can walk in vehicle tracks, so I take our ATV around the property a few times and then he walks in the tracks

If it is really cold and snowy - I take him for a ride and he likes that quite a bit. Makena is a good passenger - he knows he is not allowed to get out if the motor is running, so he just sits and watches the scenery. He likes it best if I go very slow, I guess so he can see things better. He will meow at me if I go too fast.  Sometimes we ride out to an area that is windswept and has little snow - and then we get out and walk around there for a bit .

Last year we had a very bad winter and Makena was not happy - the snow was way to deep for him. On the rare occasions when he went out - he had to stay on the path to our door or the plowed path to where we keep firewood.  The trails were too deep for the ATV to manage - so no rides either.

But all was not lost - to my amazement it turned out he likes to ride with me when I plow.

Despite the constant starts and stops and all the noise of the plow scraping, he really enjoys it. So now when I go out to plow, I bring gloves, hat, thermos of hot tea.....and a bundled up Bengal.

My neighbor Bob came out to chat after I plowed his driveway.  Bob is used to seeing me out and about with Makena, but he laughed and shook his head when he noticed Makena "I have to guess that is the only cat out plowing today!"

Thanks for all the nice comments. I think they're really going to enjoy this winter. Our new house is about 1,000 meters up the side of Fuji so we'll have BIG snow this year.

@Bengalcatman  your cats have got the best life. Not just walks in the forest but a chauffeured snow plough as well!
