What do you normally feed your cats? Why would it be unhealthy to give them wet food?

They are normally feed Purina or Iams, and I figure wet food is more unhealthy because of the BPA, ( my source when I was looking into wet food was this;  "Most canned food these days have a plastic coating inside the can to supposedly keep the food, vegetables, and fruits – fresh. Well, it may keep them more fresh that otherwise without it being stored up inside a metal object, but this comes at the expense of harming you. The inner plastic lining is poisonous at small measures - See more at: http://www.seattleorganicrestaurants.com/vegan-whole-foods/avoid-canned-food/#sthash.pcHBuH25.dpuf " ) If you have a good brand though, can you let me know? I was really into getting them one with protein, but I have no idea where to begin!

There are lots of options, and lots of variables--depending on the health of your cats, your budget and lifestyle, their daily dietary needs.  Personally, my cats eat and like mostly Soulistic and Merrick Purrfect Bistro pates.  But I have one older cat who likes Fancy Feast Gravy Lover's foods.  With her, it's a matter of keeping her eating, even if it's not the best canned food out there.

Here's an article about canned food with BPA-free cans:  https://bpafreecannedfood.wordpress.com/bpa-free-canned-pet-foods/

And here's one on transitioning from dry to wet, if that's your plan:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/transit...-to-a-new-type-of-food-canned-raw-or-homemade

There is a whole series of articles here:  http://www.thecatsite.com/atype/46/Cat_Health  on feeding your cat healthy foods.

Please read the article posted above.    Wet food is NOT unhealthy.  In fact its much much healthier than feeding dry food.

There are brands of canned food that are BPA free. Weruva is one. You can look at pet food company web sites or contact the company to see if their cans are BPA free. Some people do transfer the food from an opened can to a glass jar.
