You don't need to be scared it just an issue you need to get contol of. Have you bathed your kitten with warm water and a safe shampoo to get the fleas off? If you can't bathe her buy a flea comb and comb the fleas out. Just because it is sick doesn't mean you can't remove them. Have a cup of water with a couple drops of soap to drop them in to kill them after combing them out. It doesn't sound pleasant but your kitten will get more sick of it is infested. The best way is to bathe your kitten do the comb if that's out of the question. Also you will need to find a way to treat you house. I have had many flea bites but I don't think I have ever gotten any on my head. They are gross and are pest and yes they can carry some diseases but in the 20 years I have had cats I've never gotten sick.

Why don't you want to treat your sick cat?

Stephen I think Malish means they can't do a flea treatment while the cat is weak from something else.

If there are enough fleas that they're jumping off to bite you, hexie is right that you need to do something. The stress/itching will only prolong any other sickness. At least get a comb and remove some of the fleas.

Please see a vet if possible, Malish. Cats can get tapeworm from eating a flea, and they do this easily. If fleas are bad enough they can also become anemic.

Ah right well if that is the case I expect the cat could easily tolerate a one-time capstar oral treatment as its highly safe and will kill all the fleas in about an hour (discuss with vet).  Or she could use a gentle dish soap like joy, give her a bath and comb out all the stunned fleas.

I recently treated both my cat and apartment for fleas. Revolution for the cat, Precor 2000 for my apartment. It's made a huge difference.

Thank you the everyone for your help, support and advices!  I would do the comb thing, probably, right now.  The cat is sick with the bad flu or cold, the vet gave him antibiotic shot and other medicine.  For that reason I can not wash him yet, as it is cold outside.  But I would try that later, when he is better,, even though I have never washed him.  The vet gave to us "Advantage II", but I afraid to use that as it is toxic and I afraid to hurt the cat more.  His general health is not great, he is weak kitty and through up frequently. Thank you the very much for advice, I'm very thankful. Thank you, friends!

No.  He does not have worms yet.  But he feels a little better and I, probably, would go with the "AdantageII", as doctor prescribed.  Because combing will not resolve the problem at full, and he would get them again and over.  I just read an article here on site and it said that the "AdvantageII" is pretty safe.  We don't have the major infestation yet: it is just started because as he is sick, I was not letting him go out, so he is in warm house and those things multiply in wormth very quickly.  Thank you!
