snick loves christmas! she knows her stocking and what it means too. today snick started off seeming like she didn't feel too well, but she was able to enjoy her stocking and gifts. she's now pooped out and taking a nap in her favorite woolrich bed.

here, snick is checking out her first stocking gift -- mimi...(jasper got momo, the boy stuffed monkey)

snick's second stocking gift, one of the handmade catnip toys i got her from an etsy seller -- this one is a snake

she decides to jump down from her woolrich bed to check out what else her stocking has in it...

oh! another handmade catnip toy, this one is a lizard!

snick says, "i love christmas, and i love my stocking!"

a very happy girl! the blue mat-beddie is one of snick's christmas gifts too, though i gave that to her several weeks ago.

a yeowww catnip rainbow! oh, thank you mommy! i love yeowww catnip toys!

...is most wonderful nippy rainbow...

wow! lots of gifts! ...must play with catnip snake more...

...gonna get this nippy snake...                                                                                                                            look at all my christmas loot!

this was jasper's first christmas with us, and possibly his first christmas that he received gifts. he didn't really understand what the stocking meant this year, and all his "loot" was a lot to take in at first. but jasper was playing with his gifts shortly after he got them. jasper likes to nibble and chew on his toys, so i got him quite a few toys made for chewing on. the orange bear is actually made for dogs, but it has a hole at the top of it big enough that i can put some kibbles inside the bear and jasper can work out how to get them out -- something for him to play with during the overnights.

wow! a whole lot of new toys!

oh, my...where to start...

i'll check this toy out first...

i think i like this stocking!

behind jasper is his new catit massage center/spa, another of his christmas gifts which i gave him several weeks ago.

Does jasper use the spa? What are they supposed to do with it?
jasper hasn't used the spa so far. it may take me working with him a little on that. my mickey used to love his catit massage center/spa. the one i have that was mickey's was bigger, had more of those areas with the bristle-y stuff where cats can rub their cheeks on. mickey's spa had that top area needing to be replaced, but it cost less to buy a whole new spa for jasper than to buy the replacement part.

the bristle-y areas are for cats to rub their cheeks, under their chin, even the top of their heads on. the middle part has a "chewy nib" at it's top (more chewy nibs can be bought), which my mickey loved to chew on. i think jasper might like the chewy nib too, since he likes to nibble/chew like my mickey did -- jasper just doesn't realize yet that that chewy nib is so great.

Aww, those are great pictures! Snick is so darn cute!  I love those homemade cat nip toys. I bet Angel would like that snake & lizard too!
Jasper, so cute, looks like, WOW, what is ALL this stuff?!

That spa looks pretty cool! I've never seen one of those. I wonder if Angel would use something like that, because when I brush him, he loves for me to hold the brush out & he alternates each side of his whiskers.

one last photo, of the new cat wall furniture we added just before christmas this year. it's snick and jasper's big christmas gift for this year -- i always install big things like this before the holiday, as it can get "involved".

before i could mount the new cat wall furniture, i had to mount the tv set, then install two wire covers to get the wires from the tv set under control. everything is level, though my house isn't -- it's an 1880's house, so level is "relative". the ramp is at a slope of 29.(something) degrees -- i read that cats like a slope of no more than 30 degrees. both cats are very comfortable walking up and even laying on the ramp.

the spacing of the wall shelves is designed to accommodate my snick's needs, since she's a senior cat. our jasper is able to jump up to upper shelves easily, but snick has limitations.

i left space (i set the cat window walkway up in the spot where it will be mounted, then marked it on the wall) for the Vertical Cat cat window walkway that will be snick and jasper's shared big birthday gift for 2015, because the spacing of some of the wall furniture can effect the installation of other pieces. the cat window walkway -- http://www.theverticalcat.com/Window-Cat-Walk_p_28.html -- will join the original cat furniture area (which is to the right of the picture) to this new area.

the bed is my bed, which is located in the living room only for this winter, because that's where the wood stove is/where it's warmest. next spring i'll move the bed to the first floor bedroom, and set right about where the thermostat is on the wall in the pic a cat tree and install a floating sisal post -- https://www.etsy.com/listing/209446276/floating-sisal-cat-post?ref=shop_home_feat_4 -- just above (between 10 and 12 inches above) the cat tree's top platform and just a bit lower than level with between the wall lounger (to the left in the pic) and the cat shelf that's level with it and to the right of it on the wall.

thank you! yes, snick is a real beauty! snick has actually had boy kitty admirers. one evening during the hot summer a few years ago, when we lived in a first floor apartment, snick was laying in the window sill of the open window (with screen, of course) and i noticed she was looking at something out the window. i moved closer to her to see what she was looking at and saw 3-4 male cats laying in the driveway right below the window, just laying there looking at snick -- admiring her beauty! none of the cats where upset in the least, including snick.

i bought the homemade catnip toy snake and lizard from a seller on etsy dot com. i love that website, great handmade items of all sorts.

i'm pretty sure our jasper had never experienced christmas before. in a few years, i'm sure he'll know what christmas is and recognize his christmas stocking.

the catit massage center wasn't expensive, only $10.73 at amazon. your angel might like it, though he may very well enjoy you holding the brush for him more.

how is your angel doing? did you and he have a nice christmas?

@Angels Mommy
my late lotto used to do that with his whiskers when I brushed him. In fact I'd call him and show him the brush and he'd come running as fast as his little legs could carry his 10 kilo and rub his
face face on the brush.

That is so funny!  I can hear Snick saying, "So many boys, so little time."  "I can't help I.m such a pretty girl!"

I will have to look for those toys. a friend told me about that site, & I keep forgetting about it

Wow, that is a good deal for that cat spa! I would have though it to be more expensive. Yea, your right, I don't know if Angel would use it. Knowing my luck, he'd look

at it like "What is that?", ...& keep walking.

       Angel is doing well.
I got him some balls that are bird faces. He's still getting used to them. He's only played w/ them a little so far.

Oh looks like a lot of fun! :D

I really want kitty climbing shelves like yours... I've been working on convincing my husband that they'd be awesome.

i love the cat wall shelves just as much as snick and jasper do! i love watching them climb on them and settle into comfy spots, then either curl up and take a nap or "survey their kingdom".

)  and snick does know how pretty she is! of course, i tell her just how pretty she is at least several times each day.

here's the snake catnip toy handmade by that seller -- https://www.etsy.com/listing/151151367/catnip-cat-toy-snake-green-tones?ref=related-4   there are different colored yarns the seller has used, in different listings.

i'm glad your angel is doing well.  those sound like cute balls, with bird faces on them. i've been meaning to bring out a couple ping pong balls for snick and jasper to play with. years ago i bought a 30-pack of ping pong balls for them, and we still have plenty left.

How funny. I make very similar things for my cats, but it never occurred to me to try selling them - even though I sell other crochet things.

i think there is a relatively big "market" for handmade cat items in general, including crocheted catnip toys. it might be something to consider, making some crocheted catnip toys to offer along with the other crocheted items you sell. for me, handmade items (including cat toys) are just a little more special. and since snick is a senior cat with some serious medical issues, i try to give her more special items to enjoy.
