Bear has been through so much. I know it. He's experienced more. But he experienced a little too much.
Bear, a stray cat who wandered the local park. Bear, a warrior. Bear, furry Bear, furry fighting Bear. Walking to the laundry, he hid under something. As soon as I spotted him, I wanted to cry my eyes out. Bear was dragging himself along. His hind legs were broken.
Bear's owners were notified of this. They took him to the vet. I thought Bear was going to be better. I thought Bear was going to make it. I thought Bear was given proper treatment- taken to the vet. Three months ago, a neighbor casually tells me, Bear was put down.
I try to remember that Bear is happier now. He probably is. I just tell myself that; a lot. Bear's okay now. Bear's way better. Bear is healed.
