Hello Everyone!

So about a year ago, I adopted my precious fur baby after she stretched up on me and yawned in my face.  It was love at first yawn!  Her adoption papers said she was an American Shorthair and that her coloring was black.  However, she has orange and white patches on her chest and stomach, along with random orange strands in her coat and a few longer white ones.  At first we thought she might be a tortie but she has more than three colors, and her we didn't think she could be a calico because she's not mainly white.  Here's my baby:

You can see the random orange hairs in her coat here.

Any idea what her coloring is called? And if she really is an American Shorthair? We think there might be some Oriental in there somewhere just because of how talky she is!

Yeah, streching and yawning are ways to greet a friend.  Which isnt commonly known even by cat owners.

Re her colors; I can agree, she is black tortie.  May possibly bli called for Calico, as the colored spots are clearly definied.   So it doesnt need to be very much white.  Although cats called for Calico do usually has much white.

What baffles me extra, is these white spots on her back.  Quite unusual.  Could we get please a good pic from her backside too?

Congrats to your furry friend - whatever her exact breed or non breed.... :)

Good luck!

solid. i'd call that a solid w/ locket (white + orange chest). not a calico and arguably not a tortie either, although one sees hints of such genetics.

Ah,  you alike Salomo has come with a nice solution to our problem.     I will buy this for the moment.

The only left to wonder are these white  hairs on the back.  These arent usual pattern as I know.   Traces of early damages??   Healed skin disease of sorts??

What a pretty gal you have!  That first pic is fantastic.  I like the idea of the 'locket' for her markings, very cute.

There is a coat they call reversed calico. The cat is mostly white with calico spots. It's very pretty. Personally I would call your kitty a black reversed calico. Or when asked, simply reply she is obviously of the FANTASTIC variety with a strong lineage of beautiful.

Those are very unusual markings! I wonder if she's a chimera---having absorbed a littermate in utero and gotten some of that littermate's coloring. If not, I would guess she's genetically a tortie, but with atypical markings.
