You Promise you will fetch me when my days are up. When I dunno. You forbids me to shorten my life, okay, I will wait. Promise me, You Wait for Me. Smokey

Jessika,
God bless you hon, I know exactly how you must feel. I've had that same thought myself. I lost my three boys this year....all since mid-September! It's been a nightmare I'm having trouble waking up from. I miss them so much. I've been lucky though that two came back for a visit! ( though I cannot see them, I can feel them snuggling next to me).
Your Smoky is so beautiful and looks so very sweet. It's heartbreaking to lose them no matter when it happens. Mine was a 6 month old kitten which was just awful. So much love in such a small package. And it sounds like you are still grieving terribly for your Smokey.
Have you considered another baby to love and love you? There are so many out there who need us. My Rascal was dumped in a box outside the shelter and left there, and I think they knew he wasn't well. I took him anyway, and no way would I return him, even knowing ( by then) that he was very ill. Was Smokey a Japanese bobtail? Love them...they have such sweet faces.
I usually do find another within about a year, or they find me. So many to love and help, and perhaps one who could help you heal too?
I hope you don't think I'm trying to be pushy, I'm not. My sister has a lot of cats, and I've had quite a few too. We believe it's our task to love as many as possible, especially the ones who need us so badly. So here's a little story about one of hers. She found him as a very tiny kitten, and he'd been hit by a car. It's taken a lot of attention, and some vet work to bring him back from the brink--but he made it! Now, despite permanent issues he's a beautiful and healthy, happy kitty. His back is crooked as is his tail, but he allows nothing to stop him. Truly a remarkable boy. Just something to think about. And thank you for reading about my lovely Rascal, I will miss him forever, until we are reunited at the Bridge. I hope the pain eases for you soon, for both of us really. And now I'm praying that there's another little loving angel kitty out there waiting for you.
Bless you

His name is Skippy, and you can't see his twisted back and tail in this photo, but he's taught himself to be strong and agile so he does very well.

We all believe we will be reunited with our loved ones who have left us, the wait seems unending at times. There cannot be an end to a love so strong it intertwines with our very soul. I agree that a new love helps to fill that emptiness, it also helps to fill that hole that is left in our hearts. We can, and should, allow ourselves to open our hearts to another little soul, there are so many that so despartly need someone to love them. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, and to all of us that have loved so much to hurt so bad. We can't allow it to rule our lives, we have to purposely strive to accept what is unacceptable and have joy in our lives once again. Time will soften the edges and give us once more hope to look to the future. RIP beautiful Smokey, you were greatly loved and will never be forgotten!

You have stated that perfectly. Though I've lost Rascal, my heart still yearns to find another who needs me, and share the love I have and need to share.

Awww Jessika,
So beautiful. And so is your heart to take him in. I say him because that's usually the case with the big orange kitties. It's almost always a boy. Something to do with genetics, but I don't know the specifics. I've had vets tell me that too, so I think you have a boy. If he isn't neutered yet, doing that will slow down or even stop the fighting and aggressive behavior. Even if he has been neutered it sometimes takes a while for the Testosterone to slow down. You might want to ask the vet if there is anything they can give him to speed up that process. Meanwhile, I am so pleased for you. I have always loved the big orange kitties, they are very special. It might take a while, but it sounds like something clicked with both of you, so I have very high hopes. You may have to keep him inside to keep him out of trouble, but if you can manage, I'd start with the vet. God bless you hon, you waited a long time.

It's only been a short time since I lost my boys, and I'm having a rough time of it, especially today. I keep seeing my Paxi and Sammy laying peacefully under the tree ( as in the Christmas photo I submitted) and it hurts so much not to have them there. My baby Rascal hadn't been with us long enough before we lost him... So my poor heart is breaking all over again. I miss them so very much! Please God let this get better very soon. Some days are just so hard to bear. I know what you meant a while back with something you said. And I'm happy you have Garfield now! But I suspect that you suffered as I am.
God bless you hon, and Merry Christmas ( thanks for listening)
